Apparently the Reds have signed right-handed pitcher Steven Jackson.

Also, Justin Lehr has been moved to Triple-A Louisville.

For real. This all must have happened late last night/this morning because Lehr did not get called into the office after the game yesterday.

I guess this is what happens when Walt spends the weekend watching the games in Louisville. At least that's what I heard he was doing.

He was in Carolina as well.

I don't think he was in Durham, I didn't see him there. I heard he just flew in to see Carolina Saturday or Sunday.

My appologies. I also forgot that the Bats were on the road. :O) I knew someone said he was at the game...just didn't realize it was Carolina.

No problem. He's in Carolina today as well. I think he leaves tomorrow though.

I imagine this could be his last start there. Josh Smith and him are due promotions and with Ravin down and Janke and Patch ineffective, someone is gettin a bump.

Great throw from Perez in right to get the runner at the plate to end the inning. Lookouts are up 2-0 though after 1 1/2

Geraldo Valor, the just-turned-17 shortstop who is off to such a good start, homered today as the VSL Reds won 10-2. Miguel Mendez, an 18-year-old SS-3B playing third, went 3 for 3 with two doubles.

Luis Gonzalez, an 18-year-old lefty who was very good last year, started and won. Curiously, none of the three Reds pitchers struck out a batter.

The VSL is pretty interesting. There's a lot of young high-upside players who could find their way onto prospect lists by this time next season.

Campbell's back in the lineup tonight, but he's in the hitless minority. Fellhauer (3 for 4) and Grandal (2 for 2, both doubles) have driven in three apiece and Jose Gualdron is 3 for 3 as Bakersfield leads 7-5 in the seventh.

On a brighter side, it looks like Chapman threw 1 inning yesterday. Recored 3 outs on 8 pitches, of which 6 were strikes.

And that earned Leake a promotion?
