I'm going to start using this thread as a place to discuss other games, not Reds games.

Top 8th
Cardinals 1
Astros 3

Cardinals were no hit for 6+

Final
Braves 3
Marlins 2

Marlins w/ runners on last out edit: sanchez called out on a 3-2 pitch off the outside of the plate.

Bud Norris carries the no-hitter into the 7th. Lance Berkmann breaks it up with a two-out blast that cuts the lead to 3-1. Milwaukee leads 2-1 in the 8th. Arizona takes a one-run lead on the Pirates in the top of the 10th only to see Pittsburgh tie it back up in the bottom half of the frame.

The Mets jumped all over the Brewer bullpen and now lead 6-2.

Reds

R Paulino homered to left, C Beltran and A Pagan scored.
Mets 6, Brewers 2 | Top 8th, 1 out

Mets are doing us some favors it would appear. I'm going to watch the rest of this one.

Is every single Red Sox-Yankee game nationally televised?

texasdave

I don't know why everyone expects Lance Berkmann to stop hitting. His career OPS is .960. He can hit. If anyone should know that it is a Reds' fan. How often has he killed us?

Reds

Redsox move into first place with an 11-6 victory over the Yankees. 18-6 in their last 24 to boot. They haven't played better than the Yankees, but they have played better against the Yankees than the Yankees play against them. This is key is baseball sometimes.

In Chicago the Whitesox and Mariners are tied entering the ninth inning.

Reds

The Pirates threaten but come up short in the 11th. Moving to the 12th.

Braun has doubled in 2 runs, the Brewers now only trail by 2 in the 8th.

update: Fielder HR. Game tied at 6.

Cardinals lose 4-1. Buccos win.

He's on the all-time Reds-killer list, for sure.

Darwin Barney's trying to work his way on there. He's the new Theriot. :(

Brewers come all the way back to win, 7-6. What a nasty comeback, down 4 with only two innings to play and they don't even need extras to win.

Reds

Rays - Angels update. Weaver started for the Angels and even though he isn't as sharp as he was earlier this season he was serviceable. The Rays were up 3-0 entering the bottom of the 8th, the Angels then loaded the bases and Abreu smacks a double to right center to tie the game at 3-3. The Angels fail to drive him in however, and after 8 it's tied.

Rays retake the lead in the top of the 10th. Farnsworth shuts the door, Halo fans go home unhappy.

Brewers looked a lot like the 2010 Reds with that comeback. Down 6-2 in the 8th they score 4 to tie it up in the 8th and then walk-off the field smiling in the 9th. Crap.

Reds

Bottom 6th
Mets 4
Brewers 1

Bottom 4th
Cubs 0
Phillies 3

Top 6th
Cardinals 6
Astros 1

Cards are threatening with 2 on and none away in the 6th.. Cards add on at least two in the sixth. Updating that, it's now 6-1 with only 1 away in the 6th inning.

Reds

Braves just tied a franchise record, they swept a series scoring a total of 7 runs. It appears that they'll be the team to test the Phillies in the east this season. Their pitching is actually improved over last year.

texasdave

Brewers get the first two batters aboard in the bottom of the seventh. Casey McGehee has had a miserable 2011 at the plate to date. McGehee gives it a ride but Beltran holds it in. Braun tags and goes to third. Betancourt fouls out. Two down. Lucroy strikes out looking. Fizzle.

More Cardinal crap:

Pujols gets pitched up and in and takes great offense.
Pujols then homers - and stares it down.
Apparently the Cards can do these things but other teams can't?

SWIndRed
06-19-2011, 04:10 PM
Wow! Pujols leaves the game with injury after throw takes him into the runner at first base. It appears from replays to be a wrist injury - perhaps a dislocation.

Don't wish that on anyone. My wife asked yesterday why Votto didn't try harder to field Edison's throw to first last night and that is why. Reaching into the runner sprinting to first can be a recipe for disaster/injury.

Back and fourth, the Cardinals are leading 4-3 in the sixth now.

The Cards win on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth by Skip Schumaker.

5-4 Cardinals

Pirates up 4-0 so far. Still batting in the second hosting Baltimore.

Guthrie getting lit up by the anemic Pirate offense.

Milwaukee up 2 zip behind Grienke in the 4th.
St. Louis-Philadelphia scoreless in the 5th.

texasdave

In the 8th the Pirates are doubling up the O's - 6-3.
Milwaukee still leads the Devil Rays 2-0 in the sixth.
The Cards push a run across and lead the Phillies 1-0 in the 7th.

Adam Dunn is relentless in his pursuit of Drew Stubbs for the major league lead in strikeouts. Dunn has now fanned 7 times in his last 9 ABs. '0 and 2' Drew better not lose his focus.

Jason Motte came in, faced two batters, hit them both and thought to himself "Wow, that felt good!".

texasdave

Ben Francisco singles with two away to give Philadelphia a 3-2 lead. Tony LaRussa using his 7th, just kidding, his 4th pitcher in the inning.

texasdave
06-21-2011, 10:40 PM
Milwaukee busting it open in the bottom of the 7th, scoring 2 runs and still batting. They now lead Tampa Bay 4-1.

Greinke went 7. He allowed 4 hits, 1 earned run, walked nobody and fanned 10.

Prince Fielder singles making it 5-1.

texasdave
06-21-2011, 10:43 PM
Cards' 4th pitcher in the inning walks in a run. 4-2. LaRussa replaces him with the PA announcer. The little kid that threw out the first pitch is getting loose in the Cardinal bullpen.

I thought you might be kidding, but its not that far fetched for the Cards to look for something to argue about when his team is doing bad.

He's arguing that Miguel Batista should be allowed to have 7 balls before a walk. At this point I'm just hoping all of these runs score so Batista doesn't keep an ERA well lower than it should be and we can finally get on with DFA'ing him. And Franklin. And Tallet. And Miller.

He swung at the second pitch on a 1-0 count and it was out of the zone, why would you not take a strike in this situation?

That has absolutely got to be the worst Cardinals message board I have ever read, including the mlb.com boards. Though I could see how a fan of an opposing team would enjoy the utter chaos that occurs with meltdowns like these on those boards.

Well, Batista's ERA is up to 4.60 still at least a run shy of what it probably should be, but I'll take it. If this team does something stupid like trading Sanchez or Salas (with more of course) to San Diego for Bell I'll be irate. It's not that we don't have some good arms out there, but instead the middle relievers are absolutely terrible. I mean we are almost to July and Franklin is sporting a near 9 ERA with no talks of DFA.

I think it is safe to say that Pitt and Milw win and St. L. loses tonight. Brewers and Cardinals will swap places and the Reds will stay 2.5 games back, just 1.5 up on the Pirates.

NYY 4 Cincy 2

Pitt 5 Balt 4

Marcum pulled after 3. No indication whether that is injury-related or not.
