The Southern League has announced that right-handed reliever Brad Boxberger has been named to the 2011 North Southern League All-Star team. The former USC standout has flourished in his first full year as a reliever after struggling last year after a mid-season conversion. Boxberger holds a 1.29 ERA in 24 games out of David Bell's bullpen. The 23-year-old will be the only Mudcat representative on the All-Star team.
Right-handers Matt Klinker and Nick Christiani were on the honorable mentioning list but are no longer in the Southern League.

(However, Klinker is back so he could very well play if an injury occurs)

Nice. Not a surprise at all considering he is just tearing it up. But still nice to hear.

Gonna be fun watching him in the Reds' pen the next several years. I bet he finishes this season at Louisville then makes the Reds' 25-man roster out of spring training next year. Hell, I would take him on the team right now over Carlos Fisher.

Whew! That team is having a mighty rough season, which can be dis-inheartening, by the adage "look to a team's AA to see their future". Fortunately in the Reds case they have so many high level future players at Louisville that are MLB ready.
