Bats @ Swine

Cozart SS
Sappelt CF
Alonso LF
Francisco 3B
Hermida RF
Dorn 1B
Miller C
Negron 2B
Bailey P

Let the Mesoraco speculation begin.

I'd guess its more to have the "almost a coach" Miller back there with the injured Ace on the mound.

I believe mth is right. I honestly think that that exact Bats team takes at least four of ten against the Astros.

Bats score in the 1st. Cozart singles and Francisco knocks him in.

1-0 Bats

Francisco scores on a WP

2-0 Bats going to the bottom of the first.

Got more Chapman info. So I talked to his personal trainer, Tomas Vera, He said that he thinks that Chapman will eventually be a starter. It'll be the best thing with the Reds because of the money. More people will come see him throw 7 innings every five days than what he's doing now. I asked him what Chapman wanted to do, start or relieve. He said he didn't care, that he'd do either.
Another thing I found out was that Chappy is really, really fast. He used to train with some National track team. Then Tomas said he would love to see a 60-yard dash between Chappy and Stubbs.

After giving up a leadoff single, Bailey Ks the next two hitters.

GOYA

Add Billy Hamilton to that race and I might pay a little bit to see it. ;)

Add Sean Casey for comic relief. One thing is for certain. Nobody would try harder than The Mayor. He gave it his all.

That fastball could not have been any straighter.

I believe mth is right. I honestly think that that exact Bats team takes at least four of ten against the Astros.

I say it takes 6 or 7 out of 10 if Mesoraco is catching as well and Bailey's injury is taken out of consideration. Bailey this season has been better than any Astros starter when healthy, and overall the position players are better (once you get past Pence and Bourn, their starters are useless).

GOYA

Francisco and Hermida start the 4th with singles.

Dorn sends a drive to deep CF but it is caught.

Corky flairs a single and the Swine OF overruns the ball

E9 and the Bats lead 4-3

Edd Roush

Corky Miller with another RBI. Bats up 4-3.

Solid seventh for Webb. Hamulack has a solid eighth. Mudcats still trail 5-2.

Boxberger on for the ninth. Campbell is 2-4 tonight and his avg. is up to .250.

Box gives up a leadoff hit for the Smokies.

cinreds21
06-11-2011, 08:52 PM
Box doesn't allow a run. Bottom 9 coming up. Mudcats need a grand slam to walk it off.

Skelton pinch hits for Coddi and grounds out. One away.

Infield single for Phipps.

Apparently DB was tossed in the third.

cinreds21
06-11-2011, 08:58 PM
Rodriguez grounds out. Mudcats lose their fifth in a row 5-2.

Bell was shown the door for arguing that a runner left third base before a catch was made in right field on a tag up. According to Mudcats radio, it should have been a triple play as the Mudcats got two outs on the play anyway. As usual, Ryan Jackson had to go out and restrain DB.

The Mudcats tighten their grip on the worst record in the minors tonight. James Avery will go tomorrow.

GOYA

Bats got the lead back with 3 in the 7th. Not sure how.

I hate when life gets in the way of baseball.

edit: a Daryl Thompson HR and a Yonder 2 RBI double

DT with a homerun? Sorry bout it.

GOYA
06-11-2011, 09:21 PM
BTW, Corky needs a triple for the cycle. What are the odds?

Pigs just tied it up at 7-7 in the 8th

GOYA
06-11-2011, 09:39 PM
LeCure on to pitch the 9th. He needs to hold the Pigs scoreless to force extras.

GOYA
06-11-2011, 09:41 PM
Going to the 10th in Swinetown. A 7 pitch inning for Sam.

GOYA
06-11-2011, 09:42 PM
Alonso, Francisco and Hermida due up for the good guys.

.323, .321 and .359

GOYA
06-11-2011, 09:48 PM

Mobley coming on for LeCure, I think.

Corky didn't get his triple in the 11th.

He has 1 triple in his career.

Stalin (I always thought it was Starlin) Gerson had his first start tonight for Dayton, and it was a good one: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K. Sharky Rogers and Drew Hayes completed the shutout, 3-0. Juan Duran, after striking out three times, drove in two during a 3-run eighth.

Bakersfield is up 5-2 and still batting in the fourth. Didi Gregorius, now batting .360 after missing April and most of May, is 3 for 3 with a SB, an RBI and two runs scored.

Paul Janish, .593 OPS so far in June (7 games)
Zach Cozart, .535 BA in his last 10 games

A tip of the hat to Denis Phipps...

He had an eight game hitting streak broken on Friday night in a rain shortened five inning game. He came back last night with a 2-5 performance at the plate. This pushes his BA to .240. The BA is nothing at all to get excited about but he has battled back from an extremely slow start.
