Carolina jumps out to a 3-run lead, but shows what southern hospitality really means by allowing Tennessee to tie it back up in the next frame. Knotted up at 3 after four. They started Chapman and he had a strong outing. 2IP 0H 0ER 2BB 3K. Gameday numbers for Chapman - 20 pitches, 11 strikes. Costanzo goes deep in the bottom of the 5th. 4-3 Muddies.

Sulbaran starting for Bakersfield today. In his last 5 starts he has whiffed 39 batters in just 29.1 IP. Still only 21 years of age, although it seems he has been around forever.

Time to put Chapman back in the starting roll :D

I know it was probably set up for him to only pitch 2 innings, but I am ready to stretch him out and learn how to pitch as a starter.

James Skelton cleared the bases with a double in the eighth and Carolina now leads 8-3. Skelton, who was once highly regarded as a catching prospect, has hit well since the Mudcats picked him up a month or so ago. Amy reports on how he looks offensively or defensively?

He may not be the kind of guy who can turn around a team as troubled as Carolina, but Tim Hamulack has been an excellent pickup. He finished the Mudcats' 8-3 victory with a scoreless ninth, keeping his ERA at 0.00.

Though Chapamn started, he still worked strictly from the stretch.
James Skelton has been surprisingly good since arriving here.
Donnie Joseph with another good outing. He hit 96 on the scoreboard clock...for what it's worth.
Really good to get a win today.

Chapman looked better today than on Thursday. He still was a bit wild. He hit triple digits at least once but one of the times flew to the backstop. He still is having control issues but maybe he can get away with it. He'll throw again on Wednesday in Tennessee.

Bats pitcher Jordan Smith will be back in about two weeks.
