View Full Version : Gio Gonzalez?

I think the Reds should target Oakland's Gio Gonzales for our starting pitching.

Dude is 25 years old and has a 2.59 e.r.a. with hitters batting .228 against him. He's a lefty. He has 10 quality starts in 15 attempts and has gone 6+ innings in 12 of them. And he's only given up 6 HR's.

Gonzalez heads to arbitration this offseason and surely will command alot more money than the O's are willing to pay him. They are currently not paying anyone on the payroll more than $6M per season. Their top 4 highest paid players are all conveniently free agents after the season. They currently have 14 players headed to arbitration next season and have their highest payroll in the last 4 years right now.

If Oakland can't afford Gonzalez in his first arb year then that franchise needs to be relocated. He isn't going anywhere is my guess.
