Daniel Renken has struck out the side in the first three innings. I said, 9 K in three innings. And one hit.

Dayton leads 5-0. Lutz has a HR. Tyrus Raymond Torreyes is 1/2, a 2B.

Edit: Dang, OB, you beat me by seconds.

Matt Klinker, having been beaten up pretty bad last night, will actually face the same team in the final game of the same series on Sunday night. Should be interesting. Six games series are rare.

The Dayton final was 7-1. Including the relief work from Sharky Rogers and Drew Hayes, Dayton pitchers struck out 17.

Everybody in the lineup except for Hamilton had at least one hit. Yorman and Duran had three apiece, Torreyes and Vidal two.

Um...what's a Daniel Renken?

Renken's just short of 22 and a good-sized righthander. He was drafted out of college last year in the mid rounds and pitched just a few innings for Dayton. After tonight, he leads the Midwest League in strikeouts, followed by Josh Smith and Daniel Corcino.

Is Todd Frazier the first professional baseball player use a Frank Sinatra song as walk-up music?

Any of you other folks in the Louisville area ever watch the Bats games on Wazoo? I love having that option on days I can't make it to the park, but I have to say the camera work needs some improvement. Hard to gripe about free local TV broadcasts, but hey... I'm griping anyway.

Some quick thoughts from last night's game. W/ a 3 year old in tow for his first game, didn't get to pay as close attention as I would otherwise, but anyways: Renken, it goes w/o saying was impressive. I didn't get into the park until after the game started, so I'm not sure who committed the errors that allowed 2 runners on base, but Renken was dealing. I wasn't paying attention to the radar too often, how hard does he throw? Article in the DDN today mentioned that he topped out in the mid to upper 80s in college, part of why he wasn't drafted until the 22nd inning, almost hinting that he's gained some velocity since, leading to the bunches of strike outs this season.

Hamilton looked pretty poor at the plate, made a real solid throw from short sometime in the 7th or 8th inning, showed pretty decent range in that play and a solid gun. It wasn't a world better play, but definently better than average.

Torreyes, is size, or lack there of, does stick out. Even more so when Duran is at the plate a couple of batters after him. Impressed with his approach, seems to use the whole field and is patient. Moved from 2nd to 3rd later in the game and made a nice play. Not sure he has the arm to play 3rd moving forward, but I don't think he'd kill you there based upon that 1 play.

I didn't notice that Yorman had 3 hits, but Duran sprayed the ball, hit it with some authority a couple of times, he had 3 hits on the night as well and is hitting .255ish Nice progress by those 2.

Barnhardt threw out another runner, looks pretty good behind the plate.

Overall, I liked the approach the whole team showed at the plate. Most at bats, the Dragon hitters were patient, working the counts, used the entire field, and were pretty aggressive. It seems like a team that is poised for a big 2nd half push. Now that Hamilton, Yorman & Duran have their feet wet, and Torreyes has joined them, I could see this team challenging for a 2nd half title.

Milb.tv has all of the Bats home games and i believe all of the remaining road games, and if I connect my laptop to my tv, it is better quality than Wazoo (though same camerawork at slugger field). It also has archives for all of the games this year, and is a very good deal at $19.99 for the rest of the year.

I could be wrong, but I believe Renken signed for over slot, so I wouldn't say he's your typical 22nd rounder.

Good suggestion, but it doesn't work for me unfortunately. Ii live out in rural southern Indiana and my internet connection sucks balls. Video of just about any kind is out of the question for me.
