Hermida at Louisville:

.327/.413/.498 OPS = .911

We need another LH bat in the lineup or off the bench.

Gomes may kill LHP, but Baker will continue to run him out there against RHP (against which he outright sucks), as long as he's on the team.

Hermida is three years younger and not that far below Gomes in career MLB OPS.

All that and the team IQ average shoots up about 5 points.

That will happen right around the same time hell freezes over. Dusty loves Jonny Gomes.

Hermida was pretty terribad when he was up here, even if it was a small sample size. Dusty hasn't been running Gomes out there on a regular basis for quite some time, so we can put that to rest. The majority of his PT is coming against lefties. In a platoon role being used like he is he's still valuable to our team.

Our LF is far from great but we can win with the production we're getting from that platoon. Not that I would be against upgrading it, just that Hermida does absolutely nothing for me. JMO.

He loved Paulie, too.

I would like to see Hermida get a chance as well. He's produced in the past and has great tools. I just can't figure out who to send down. I don't think it's Gomes since he's so good against lefties and Dusty has been platooning him recently. Lewis has also done well, and obviously they're not going to send down Bruce, Stubbs, or Heisey. I think it would have to be an injury to get him up here.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's as obvious as it should be.

This team is OPSing .828 against lefties and .710 against righties. Seems to me they might want to even that up a bit, especially considering there a lot more RHP than LHP.

I remember how Baker was worried in ST that the OF might end up with too many LH bats, referring to the year it had Dunn, Hamilton and Griffey.

So Lewis started on the DL, and Hermida got sent down.

No matter that Bruce and Votto were the only other LH hitters, save for a game or two from Francisco.

I'd be very surprised if there is another MLB team with only three LH bats.

But the thought of three LH bats in the OF would probably freak Baker out.

Gomes looking pretty bad right now...this guy needs a shrink like most of this team.

Gomes flailing at pitches in the dirt.

Apparently intent on filling the void Paul Janish left.

Falls right into the category that is bringing this team down. The manager cares more about the players feelings than doing what is best to construct a roster/lineup that can win games.

Here is a better idea...replace Gomes with Ludwick...

We have to wait until after Jonny Gomes bobblehead day to see him have even the smallest chance of being removed from the roster.

At what point are people going to relize Gomes isn't going anywhere this season. Not next week, not next month. Our team is set, there will be no radical changes.
