We live near Spring Grove Cemetery and my wife & I regularly go for walks there after work. Today we were following one of the Walk for Health courses (the blue one) and saw a headstone that we'd never seen before. What caught my eye was that it mentioned the Cincinnati baseball club. It was the marker for Charlie Gould, one of the original Red Stockings and the club's 1st manager when they joined the NL. I took this photo with my cellphone, so it's not the best.

Gould is not the only ballplayer buried there. Here's a list from the cemetery:

Good info, metz.

I wanted to be sure that Waite Hoyt was included on the list of former major leaguers buried there. Yep, he's on the list.

By the way, it is interesting to me how, on the headstone, the baseball and crossed bats resemble a skull and crossbones.
