PEDs or a drug of abuse?

It is unknown what substance caused the violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, but MLB said it was a "drug of abuse."

Thanks.

And this is his 2nd failed test? When was the first one?

Is marijuana considered a "drug of abuse" by MLB, or are we talking about something harder?

I am not sure.

I do know that they don't test players on the 40-man for weed.

If I had to guess, I would say that it was weed

He has that "look" about him. Haha

Which is why we all know the name Tim Lincecum

In the minor leagues, yes, pot is a drug of abuse. In the Majors, they don't care if you do it (at least to the point where you are suspended). If you recall last season Jeremy Jeffress was added to the Brewers 40 man roster in the middle of June without being called up. He had two prior suspensions for pot and a third one would have been BIG trouble. The theory is that he was going to test positive again but because he was put on the 40 man, they no longer checked for it.

Wasn't there a player for the VSL Reds that was on suspension as well? Kid's name was Raga or Ragu or something like that.

Call me gullible but I just don't see this guy as a doper. But hey, I've been wrong before.

There is at least 1 Red that I know of that is a regular user of pot as well, but I'm not going to say anything further because I'm not at liberty to show the pictorial proof. Just take my word for it.

There are quite a few MLBers that smoke pot, probably more than most think or realize.

That's probably putting it lightly.

About a decade ago, I was a kid who often hung around Cinergy Field, and on a couple occasions, I personally (fill in the blank because I have already gotten infractions for discussing illegal activity) with two ex-Reds shortly before game time. They are both now retired. One was a two-time Gold Glover, and the other was a two-time All-Star (but not with the Reds). They would both tell you it's a very common thing.
