Yes, I see a glaring omission. Chris Valaika must have been traded for a ptbnl.

Hermida robbed of a HR on a bad call. Umps are conferencing.

It was ruled a double.

Dayton just hung seven on the scoreboard in the third and lead 9-3. Torreyes 2 for 2, a single and a double, two runs scored and one driven in. Duran with a three-run jack (10). Vidal 2 for 2 with 3 ribbies. Corcino gave up three runs in the third. After 4IP he has given up 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 3.

If you to MILB.com and type in Rodriguez be prepared to wait. There must be close to 100 players with that last name in the minors.

Are home runs still considered rally killers if you don't have a rally going?

On the offensive side I came in pumped to see Yorman and Hamilton in Dayton this year. With their ups and downs, I am now more excited to see Torreyes and Duran. Torreyes just amazes me how he hits and hits some more.

Bats up 8-0. Every position player has a hit and all have scored except Corky.

Maloney is done. He pitched well.

Two games ago, Torreyes was 0-6. If you start with that game, he's hitting .429 (6-8 since).

Phipps with two hits including a home run. Sixth straight multi-hit game for him.

Does anybody know when Phipps' hot streak started and what he was hitting at the time? Seems like he's now been hot for long enough that you could actually call it a turnaround. A dramatic one.

Edit:
The best I can do is:
For April-May, he hit .197.
For June-July, he is hitting .416.

I don't remember what it was, but Monday they said he had some sort of minor injury. Should be back soon.

Per Mudcats radio tonight, Phipps was hitting either .200 on June 1st or below. Either way, it is an amazing turnaround.

In addition to that, he has hit seven home runs this year, all in the 2nd half.

For all of those that were saying no to adding Soto to the 40-man a month or so ago, he has hit 13 bombs in the second half, which began June 23. (25 games)

Corcino's getting beat up a little bit again tonight.

I think our crowning of him as a top 5 prospect in the system may have been a bit premature. He still has a long way to go before getting to Cueto's level.

Also, Soto's breakout seems to make Alonso seem a lot more expendable. I don't see any way he isn't traded this season.

Duran was replaced in left field. It could be because it's 13-5, but I kinda doubt it.

Yeah, there's no question Soto will be on the 40-man this offseason. Leads all Reds' minor league players in HRs with 18 and he missed several games with a hand injury. Impressive last month for him for sure.

Plus, the Reds invested a third-round pick on Soto (supplemental third round) and higher draft picks always get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to protecting/not protecting a player. With him it's a moot point though -- he's proven he's too good not to protect.

These threads are sure a lot more lively when the Reds play a day game. It's not quite so lonely tonight.

I could see 20-25 per year, which isn't great for a first baseman, but not horrible either. Two scouts both said they see Soto as what Derrek Lee was at that age.

I thought Soto was always believe to have nice power, but it took awhile to come around. Could be wrong, but didn't he break Juan Gonzalez's home run record back in his home area or something like that in youth? Time for Doug to chime in!

Couldn't agree more. I'm really more excited about Torreyes and Duran than the other players at this point. Torreyes just handles the bat so well that it looks like a video game, and I'm pretty sure that at some point Duran is going to drill a hole through the outfield wall with his power.

Felix Perez extended his hitting streak following a two-hit day for Carolina. His batting average is up to .255, which is night-and-day better than what it was a couple months ago. Maybe it's not quite time to give up on him as a future major leaguer (not that I would call anyone out for saying anything like that).

Bakersfield was down 2-0 going into the 6th, but they scored 5 to take a 5-2 lead. The score is now 7-4. All their hitters except Ryan LaMarre (who is up now) has at least 1 hit. Kevin Coddington is doing great since his demotion and is 3-4 with 5 RBIs. Meanwhile, Brodie Greene--who has made quite a case to be called up lately--has doubled and homered. Mark Serrano walked 4, struck out 5, and gave up 2 ER over 6 innings.
