He is being assigned to their AAA team. I'm shocked because Seattle seemed set offensively. ;)

The Mariners have signed Wily Mo Pena to a minor league deal, the team announced in a press release. WEEI.com's Alex Speier reports (on Twitter) that the deal includes a September opt-out if he is not called to the majors. He will join their Triple-A affiliate in a few days

The Mariners looked to be preparing to add major-league veteran Wily Mo Pena to their roster by sending outfielder Greg Halman to Class AAA on Thursday. Seattle will announce a corresponding move Friday, and it's likely to be Pena, who was signed to a minor-league deal last week.

Great now I can to check Seattle box scores and highlights for fun!

I was under the impression that it's Robinson who will replace Halman.

Darn you Seattle Times for being wrong! They have edited the article. It is now Robinson and no mention of WMP.

The Mariners want to get a look at their newest trade acquisition and readied for that on Thursday by sending outfielder Greg Halman to Class AAA. Seattle will announce a corresponding move Friday and it's expected to be Trayvon Robinson, the AAA outfielder acquired from the Dodgers in the three-team Erik Bedard deal last Sunday.

And in the lineup tonight.

And instantly the third-best hitter in that lineup.

Actually, I think they're better than they were a month or so ago, Ackley's scary and a few of the other guys they called up and got in trades seem useful. Smoak getting hurt doesn't help, but at least they're not batting Miguel Olivo cleanup anymore.
