For those that haven't seen the renderings of the new park in Miami, IMHO, they're in for a treat.

First, here are some of the renderings:

Now, here is a link to a panoramic webcam of the park in its current state:

Though it's hard to tell immediately, it has a retractable roof. The left field background, as it appears now, will be a complete glass structure that will have a Miami skyline view from off in the distance.

The backstop on either side of the dugout will be a large bulletproof glass saltwater aquarium.

I have been very excited about this park since it was announced. I think it's going to be a treasure.

I know that they will likely sell naming rights to the highest bidder, but part of me would like to see them keep the old "Orange Bowl" name from the stadium that once stood at that site.

Except given its shape with the roof back in picture 2 and the blue seats looking like water, toilet bowl would fit better.

Jokes aside, it does look like a nice ballpark.

Yeah, that ownership deserves that.

I plan to go down and see the REDS play in the new park in 2012.
At least we won't have to worry about the rain.

I see Mr. Marlin got a scoreboard. I like the fish tank... cutting edge.

Perhaps we should have a SoFl Reds fan outing? :-)

Don't have to wait until 2012 for that. REDS coming into town in late August.

That's true... but I am a bit sick of the current stadium. Do PM me if you are thinking of going though!

Seems kind of wrong for fish to have to live with foul balls clanging off the walls of their home all the time.

Its a shame that Loria is going to make money by the dump truck loads though.

I was trying to come up with some crack along those lines as well and then saw your post. You nailed it:laugh:

Very impressive looking. (Also loved the crack about their fanbase.)

When is the new park scheduled to open?
