View Full Version : In an otherwise disappointing season, Cueto...

... has been a real joy to watch on the mound. We've always known the potential was there, and it's been great to see him put it all together. Hope he can carry this into the future. Looks like an ace now, minus the high Ks. That's been the strangest part of his improvement. He's missing fewer bats and faring much better.

Agree 100%, He has been as good as you could possibly expect someone to be. He would be great to have at the front end of the rotationf or a long time if he can keep this up.

Just to refresh everyones memories...in 2008 people wanted the reds to trade Cueto, Bruce, and Votto for erik bedard.

Not saying we shouldnt make a move, but we shouldnt give up Alonso, Bailey, etc just to get a guy like jimenez or something.

Hes gonna be the Major League leader in ERA.

Too bad we blew a lot of games for him or we would be in cy young contention.

Does anyone here ever remember the Reds or anyone touting this guy as "ACE" material on the major league level ever?

They also traded Josh Hamilton for Edinson Volquez and Herrera, lol.

Well, I was on top of this one from way back when. I was never a Bailey fan and predicted Cueto would make it and stay in the majors before Bailey stuck.

And as usual, I was right. :beerme: ;)

would love to see Cueto be the first Reds Cy Young winner.

Sadly, not gonna have the Ws this year. The Reds blew about 4-5 sure things for him.

i mean there is a chance but it is a very small one, maybe if he pitched more shutouts and got his ERA sub 1.50 into some of the greatest of all time numbers

that's what i am thinking. King Felix won it in a similar circumstance.

Felix also had ~250 IP and 230 Ks. Cueto would be extremley lucky to pitch even 200 ininnings this season and I doubt he breaks 150 Ks.

You cant miss as much of the season as Cueto did and have a shot at the Cy Young.

Cueto has been GREAT and is that top tier starter that everyone wants us to go get. He leads the league in ERA and he is YOUNG. I just pray we can keep him when his contract is up.

Glad Cueto emerged as a #1.

I just think we need to get another #1 now to compete with Philly.

I like what Leake is giving us. He keeps us in games.

Kind of wish we could afford Wandy's contract. Sub-4.00 e.r.a the last few years. Has really good stuff.
