I have looked at our schedule, and everyone in the divisions schedule. I have looked at every possible outcome, and I just don't see an outcome that doesn't have the Reds winning the division. I think we will go on at least a 19 game winning streak.(giving we lose to the pirates once)If we beat the pirates I believe the 19 win streak will be a 28 win streak until we lose to the Phillies. The final record will probably be about 101-61

That sounds like a reasonable prediction. I like it.

Are you the same person who couldn't fathom a scenario in which we didn't sweep the Mets?

Hey, why not? There's enough doom and gloom in the world...let's get this done.

I like the optimism, but let's string together 5 or 7 before we start talking about 19. This team has been streaky all year, and while the schedule is certainly getting easier in August this team would be lucky to play .667 ball.

Sweep the stros and the cards take at least 2 of 3 from mil and we are within 4.5 games. Then you can make a run from there.

16.3% chance according to http://www.coolstandings.com/baseball_standings.asp?i=1

the entire next two months the Reds schedule is loaded with weak teams

cards/brewers play 9 more times head to head
cards play pitt 10 games/ brewers play them 7

both cards and brewers play the phillies

Reds need 5 out of these next 6 . 4 would not be too bad, depending on other teams results. win 3 or less and its over, thats how i see it

If Cards sweep Brewers and we sweep Houston we are right back in it as early as next weekend

DocRed

It must start with a sweep of the Astros. If we do that we are guaranteed to gain 3 games combined on the Brewers/Cards (ie 2 games on the Cards and 1 game on the Brewers if say the Brewers take 2 of 3).

I think August is going to be a great month for the Redlegs. The schedule maker was very kind to Cincinnati. Not only do the Reds have a ton of winnable games, but it seems like the Brewers, Cards and Pirates play each other the entire month. I am hoping that we look back to the last week of July and see the Giants series as the start of something great and not to the Mets series as the beginning of the end. All of the misery that the Reds have put us fans through all season will be worth it if they make the end of the season as exciting as I think, hope, it is going to be. Buckle up Reds fans. It is just starting to get good.

Have you ever considered a career as a comedian? The Reds will finish with between 78-83 wins max this season and that is if everything goes right...101 wins...now that is funny:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Every time arroyo runs out there we'll lose (highly likely). That's 20% of the remaining games, doesn't matter who they are against.

85 - 90 wins probably wins this division. We are just as capable as anyone to get there. As much as I was ready to say its over after last weeks sweep, a few wins in a row and we are right back in it.

Really...what in this team over the past 4 months even lends itself to think they have the ability to put together a 12-15 game win streak which is what they must do to even think of having a chance.

have not won more than 3 in a row since may, but people think this team can win a great many games in a row

The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale, you should read it sometime.

It is not probable that the Reds will win the division, but it is still possible. 85 wins is only a few games over .500 that is still not that big of a stretch for this team.

Well, I haven't seen this much offensive firepower for most of the season. So I'm hoping the suffering the offense has put us through all season is all going to be made up for in these last 2 months. Including some good pitching.

Thanks for the motivational speech Cairo!

Just win baby!

Play trumps the power of positive thinking every day. This team has talent but no direction, no consistancy and a real lack of "it". So sure 85 wins is possible and heck it "could" snow tomorrow to.

If they stay at the same pace, they win 80 games. We can't pick it up 5 games.

August is pivotal for us.....we have a ridiculously easy schedule (except for Philly at the end). During that time StL and the Brewers play each other 8 times. So we know if we keep winning we will gain on one or both of them. I think if we can go 18-10 during that time we will be within 3 or 4 games of the lead.
