Yorman going back on D.L. (shoulder).

Renken will not make his start with Dayton on Tuesday.

Whats up with Renken?

Injury? Extra day of rest? Callup? Bad Chicken on the road trip?

Renken went 3-0, 0.93 in five starts in July...allowed a total of three earned runs over his last six starts.

Dorn solo HR in the 2nd and Valaika solo HR in the 3rd.

Bats 2-0 in the 3rd

Both to the same section in right center. Dorn's was a bomb. Valaika's barely cleared the fence (actually came back onto the field after hitting just above the wall).

Carolina is up 2-0 in the first. Rodriguez and Cook walked and scored on singles by Soto and Rhinehart.

Phipps is really not impressed with AAA pitching. 2 for 3 tonight and currently hitting .368 with the Bats.

Anybody have him as their breakout player for this season?

Bats up 3-1 in the top of the 6th.

Neftali Soto hit his 21st of the year. Carolina is up 5-0.

Nope egg on my face, also as far as Soto is concerned too. When will either guy cool off? I hope never

A blown save for Jordan Smith as Louisville falls in the ninth, 4-3. Phipps, 3-4, ends the night at .385.

Volquez started that game: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K.

It's now 10-1 Carolina. Rhinehart is making friends (3-4, HR). Gregorius and Soto (2 HR) also 3-4. Villarreal pitching well.

Dayton's getting whomped, 8-0 after eight. Jefry Sierra has the only hit. Josh Smith is coming back to earth.

I certainly think so. What does he have left to prove in AA? Lets challenge the guy a bit and send him up.

Not until after the 14th.... I would like to see him in person four days in a row and I don't have the money to go to Louisville and Carolina that many times between now and the end of the season. Yes, I am selfish.

Dayton got 6 in the ninth, including a HR by Chris Berset, but it wasn't enough. Lost 8-6.

After being down 10-1, Billings now trails 10-7 in the sixth. Danny Vicioso has a HR. Arias is 2-3, 2B, 3B. Waldrop is 2-3, 2B.

Billings comes up short, 10-8. Waldrop had three hits. Interesting pitching line for Porfirio Martinez: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 4 K.

Dayne Read is 2-2 with a HR for Bakersfield, which trails 3-2 in the fifth. Sulbaran has 6 K in 5 IP.

So assuming the Reds are out of contention...just leave Volquez in Louisville the rest of the year?

September call-up and hope he finds something to build on for next year.

With Yorman more than likely going on the DL tomorrow, is there any way Kyle Waldrop moves up to Dayton from Billings? Or will they even bother to replace Yorman with another OF since they already have Sierra and Jaren Matthews on the active roster?

They will need an outfielder. Waldrop is just a pup. Other options.

Dayne Read went from Billings to Bakersfield. I presumed that was because they didn't have room for him at Dayton. Now they do. He has hit very well this year.

Garton seems like a good option, as well.
