At this early stage of the deal, Lucas O'Rear (8.05) is looking like a heckuva basketball player. The AZL Reds trail 3-0 in the fourth.

Carolina leads 14-12 after 6. They've put up the 14 without the benefit of a home run. Billings is in a delay, dealing with a damp field.

Who needs a home run when you score touchdowns? They missed the PAT in the third but made the two-point conversion in the sixth.

The Dayton kids are learning how to win. One of the secrets seems to be having Drew Hayes to close. Final was 10-9 in 10.

Hamilton scored 4 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks. Lutz had 4 hits. Sierra had 3. Theo Bowe drove in the winner.

As aggravated as I get with these guys (Mudcats), I have to feel for them this morning. They played a game that ran four hours long last night. The game ended around 11:20 PM ET. Per Mudcats radio, they probably did not leave Chattanooga until around midnight. The drive is around 8.5 hours. As I post this, they may well be on the road still. Game time tonight is 6:15. Brutal.

Also, Dayton has the best record in the Midwest League, not just for the second half, but, the whole season.

DeShields may be a rising star in the organization's coaching ranks. Will be interesting to see if they send him up the ladder past Dayton next year.

I commend you for watching that. I mean how bad can a pitching staff be really? I thought the pitching in this organization was better?

We all knew there was a gap in the A+/AA level.
