View Full Version : Miami Marlins logo leaked (maybe not)

So this was leaked yesterday. Apparently this is the hat logo for the to-be Miami Marlins.

Something about it make me think of Denver. Is it the colors? or does the M look like two mountains slapped together? I guess that is a Marlin in the air and not a kite? If those are the team colors, we could have the makings for truly, truly ugly uni's.

Thanks. I wondered if it was something like that. You'd think state money would have to be pretty heavily involved too

Change the blue to teal and its Miami Dolphin colors.

Rojo
09-21-2011, 03:54 PM
Like the change to Miami. I hate teams named after states. Like the actual Marlin thing but the "M" is to sharp for a beach town. KLW is right it evokes mountains.

I'm guessing the yellow is for sand? With the orange being sunshine and the blue being water. Whatever, makes it too busy.

Nuggets colors.

_Sir_Charles_
09-21-2011, 04:30 PM
Actually, I kinda like it. Considering the high Latino population in Miami, that color scheme works I think. Bright, bold colors are pretty common in central American.

I do agree that the M should be softened somehow. Too angular...maybe a script M.

Marlins' president Dave Samson said that the logo was "inaccurate."

The saga continues...

Generally aren't the historically best organizations also the best branded ones.
Wouldnt the celtics be the nba's best. The cowboys or steelers the best in the
NFL. Stands to reason that a team that has dominated a sport like the Yankees have would also have the most iconic logo.
As for the marlin logo my first thoughts were of teepees with the small
sail on the front of a sailboat flying over them. I think that sail may be called
A jib but not sure.

Apparently. That is an awful logo. It almost reminds me of that one day in baseball where every team wore futuristic looking uniforms. They didn't belong on a baseball field and that logo doesn't as well.

I gotta admit, when the Florida Marlins first started playing in the '90s, I liked their hat so much I went out and bought one. But these are embarrassing and flat out terrible. Miami offers so much potential for cool colors and designs and this is what they come up with?

That being said, the Miami Dolphins have one of the best helmets and uniforms in the NFL (in my opinion).

Does anybody here watch Dexter? The show takes place in Miami, and the first season centered around a killer whose victims all had multi-colored painted fingernails. That is what that logo reminds me of. I honestly have to wonder if that was some kind of inspiration, even subconsciously.

These uniforms are awful. And this is coming from somebody who has glitter and sparkles and unicorms running through her veins.

I do, however, love the moments in the offseason when I log onto this board and there are eight threads about uniforms.

Have we talked about the fact that the new stadium features live fish in a tank? LIVE FISH IN A TANK??

I want to see them on the field before I say "no." I didn't like what they had looked like the past few years, very predictaable with too much black. The one thing that I don't like is the size of the cap logo. Way too big.

After having watched yesterday's Marlins game on MLB Network, my first impression of thier new ballpark was not good.

The grass seemed in horrible shape for midseason, let alone the first ever game there. The color scheme of the park was just awful, in my opinion. Dark blue seats with bright green wall padding all around the park? Not good.

Maybe it will be dressed up between now and Wednesday night's official opener but I was left very unimpressed with what I saw.

I was thinking it looks like a game they might come up with for The Price is Right. I keep expecting some contestant to hit a button to stop the fish and have one of them reveal the price of the prize. Maybe they should do something like that for "Guess the Attendance."

Overall, between the new uniforms, the design of the new ball park and the home run feature, It's only a matter of time before they become the Miami Morons.
