Boasting textbook mechanics and a smooth, flowing delivery, Reds prospect Tony Cingrani made the transition from college reliever to professional starter look effortless.
A third-round selection out of Rice University in June's Draft, the 6-foot-4 southpaw was slotted immediately into the rotation at Rookie-level Billings and looked like he belonged there all along.

Short season starter of the year.

What's the scouting report on his stuff? I'm trying to figure out where I value him in the prospect voting...

edit: nevermind, actually read the article haha. Looks like he's got a low 90s fastball with good movement, and a changeup and slider with some potential.

Cingrani is a very exciting prospect at this point. I personally have him at the tail end of my top 10.

From what I have seen he tops out 95-96.

Yeah, the article mentions that he has hit 97 mph but that consistently he works in the low 90s...

I would be really interested if he has adapted that quickly to the new delivery. Take Homer Bailey. Ever since the Reds moved him off the Drop/Drive delivery after 2006, he has struggled to find a strong enough leg kick to generate the "tempo"(as Bailey calls it) or balance to generate clean arm action and good arm speed. Instead, everything comes off as unbalanced and unclean.

That would be one hell a steal if he has. A polished arm with decent mechanics.
