Sorry for not having a link to the story.

Have to think they'll try and go after a big name.

Every GM should have his own choice of a Manager. That's something that Castallini didn't allow Jockety to enjoy.

And Ryno's not a candidate.

Well, at least for the Cubs job, he's not.

Wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth for Cubs fans?

From an outsider's point of view, he seemed to do a terrible job from what I could tell. I don't think many people will miss him.

Mike Quade... isn't that Chicago slang for Dave Miley?

I read that story and I gotta say, it would be worth the hire just to see how insane the Cubs fans would get over it. The entertainment alone is worth the hire.:lol:

As far as Quade goes, he seemed like a good guy, just a bit over matched. I don't think the Cubs are the kind of team where a first time guy can have any real success. The media and fans just eat coaches alive in that city. He would have been better off to start his major league managerial career at a place with very little pressure like a Pittsburgh or Kansas City. I wish the best of luck to him.

If Francona doesn't wind up in the Central (St. Louis or Chicago) this winter it will be a minor miracle.
