I hope they realize it isn't 1999 anymore. Unreal.

Walt Jocketty and Dusty Baker did talk with Dmitri Young, who is trying to make a comeback. Jocketty and Baker really like Young. There’s little risk in taking a minor league flyer on him. If he can play a little left field, he could be a fit.

What happens if he eats left field? What is Mo Vaughn doing these days? Maybe we should invite Joey Chestnut to spring training.

Allegedly, Young recently lost 70 pounds (http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/12/free-agent-notes-oswalt-furcal-renteria.html) to get back into playing shape, so I imagine eating left field would totally blow his diet. Either that, or he's just especially hungry, and would gobble up left field immediately upon signing.

I just read this on my lunch break at work...I am now wiping leftover spaghetti off of my desk...I referenced the Reds signing William Shatner for either left field/shortstop in another thread but I guess Dmitri is close enough....wow........

Can we pay Dmitri in skyline giftcards? We need a closer, why not see if the cowboy wants to come out of retirement?

I understand Paul Householder has been working out and is now "in the best shape of his life"

Greg Vaughn is a free agent. Pokey Reese can play all the infield positions. Where is Nuxfan when you really need him?

According to John Fay, Mr. Young looks in great shape. What would be the harm to bring him in on a minor league deal and see what happens?

No harm at all to bring him in on a minor league deal. I just like to make fun of situations like these.

Good ol DY, my all-time favorite Red! That man was a 2B machine.

Not sure about the rest of you guys, but I'd love to see him in Louisville or Dayton to begin 2012 just to see if he can still rake.

I remember when the Reds brought in Eric Davis after a year off and that worked out pretty good. No harm in bringing him in, I always liked him.

I agree. Entertainment value. Can't hurt anything.

Walt and Dusty spotted in Dallas talking to 70 year old Ed Armbrister. Looks to be in the best shape of his career and he may be able to show Stubbs how to bunt.

Jocketty has been a joke ever since hes been here. If they don't care about winning fans shouldn't go to games until they do.:(
