So the central just lost Pujols, likely Fielder and now Braun for 50 games - advantage Reds!

Braun appealing, but not one player ever who has tested positive has won there appeal.

This will be the one to be successfully appealed. Just my gut talking. But I'm trusting it.

A lot of Brewers fans are shocked and distraught over this, and there are a lot of them who refuse to believe it based on his upstanding personality and consistent stats... but to be honest I can sympathize with them. Volquez's run-in with PEDs happened under a lot of uncertain circumstances too: coming off Tommy John, with a real alibi, surprised many around him... and he was supposed to be our ace. The MLB completely believes in the infallibility of the tests though, and it's easy to believe that he could have been fully innocent and that we'd have never known.

Plus he knew about this before receiving the MVP award, so he set on that information. If this story would of broke before then he probably doesn't win the award. I do find it fishy the year he wins the award he had his career year. Im pretty sure he was told to keep this positive test sealed up. Now they can't pull the award from him, you have had other past users who accolades have not been tooken away. I also find it quite amusing what he said about arod and the same advice he gave him he's not applying it to his situation ...

I really hope this isn't true... I have a lot of respect for Braun. As he advised ARod, if he's guilty, he should come clean and not drag this out.

And the sad part of all this is Braun will still make hundreds of millions of dollars....

There is too much money out there to be made for me to believe that noone is trying their dead-level best to cheat the testing system. As to Ryan Braun, who knows? But there are cheaters out there.

People are reporting (http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/12/ryan-braun-tested-positive-for-peds.html)now the test was for a "prohibited substance," not a performance enhancing drug. But then, what prohibited substance leads to increased levels of testosterone without being performance enhancing? Seems to be a strange situation all around.

So it appears Braun is only facing a 25 game suspension now.

Where did you see that information and what was the reasoning behind it being less than 50 games?

Apparently there is now some controversy about whether Braun tested positive for a PED or some other substance. As reported in articles like this one (http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/other_mlb/view.bg?articleid=1387838&srvc=sports&position=recent), if the substance were, say, a stimulant, the ban would only be 25 games.

There will always be a problem with drugs and PED's in baseball until they get really serious about it like they did with gambling. I think they should have a one and done policy, if you get caught once you're banned for life. That would include PED's and illegal drugs.

This. Once a couple guys get kicked out of the show, it'll squash the cheating real quick...
