Reds:

Cody Ross (31) -Lots of folks want to see him back in a Reds uniform in 2012; personally I'm kind of meh...but that's an argument for another thread.

Santo Alcala (59) -A gangling pitcher whose delivery had too many moving parts to ever be consistent. Sparky Anderson described him as looking like a baby deer.

Others:

Hanley Ramirez (28) -On paper, he'd be a perfect player for the Reds since he could play third, LF, and short. It isn't going to happen, though, and I'm glad, because I don't want to have to root for him- I think he's kind of a ********.

Jerry Koosman (69) -For years he owned the ball that made the last out of the 1969 World Series. He sold it in the 1990s to an unknown collector. He at one point did prison time for tax evasion.

Ken Hubbs -First rookie to win a Gold Glove, NL Rookie of the Year in 1962. Died in a plane crash in January of 1964.

Ox Eckhardt -Fun fact: If you count both majors and minors, Ox has the highest career batting average of any player with a long career, just edging out Ty Cobb. Almost all of Ox's was in the minors, albeit the pretty high minors.

Sam Leever -Nicknamed "The Goshen Schoolmaster" for logical reasons: he was from Goshen, Ohio and he was a school teacher. Won 194 games for the Pirates with a career 2.47 ERA, then went back to Goshen and resumed teaching school. Became a bit cranky in his later years; once refused to eat Christmas dinner with his in-laws because they were Democrats.

Bats right. Throws left. Pretty unusual.

Just like Ryan Ludwick who the Reds chose instead.
