The Reds and reliever Jose Arredondo have avoided arbitration by agreeing to terms on a two-year contract, the team announced via Twitter.Arredondo, a right-hander, was eligible for arbitration for the first time this offseason as a Super Two, so he'll have two remaining years of arbitration eligibility after this deal expires. He's slated to hit free agency after the 2015 season.

The deal is apparently worth $2 million over two years. I'm sure there are some performance incentives in there as well even though they haven't been reported yet. This is a very good deal for the Reds. Arredondo was solid last year, and I'd expect him to be better this year if his command returns as he moves further away from Tonmy John.

I like it. You have to look at him as a potential closer after Madson leaves.
