Interesting piece on Reds.com by Sheldon on Frank Robinson's career here and what it was like when he came up. Nice input from Greg Rhodes, as always.

I believe sports reporter Earl Lawson (I believe he was with The Cincinnati Enquirer) had a lot to do with the negative feelings Robinson (and Vada Pinson) had towards the city of Cincinnati. He was very critical of the two. I remember him refering to Robinson's uniform as his "monkey suit."

Earl Lawson wrote for the Post and Lou Smith wrote for the Enquirer back then.

You're right Lawson didn't like Pinson or Robinson and it showed in his writing.
