Very, very big. I like it. And it is not like he plays in a homer-friendly stadium. He reaches 50/50 and that is a season for the ages.

Matt Kemp is both 50/50 and sure of himself at the same time. Fifty-fifty. Like Broadway Joe calling Super Bowl III. Like Newt Gingrich calling for a moon colony. You know, somewhere between unlikely and if the moon were a planet, that's the planet he'd be from. "Anything is possible," Kemp said Wednesday. He is 27 years old. He hit 39 home runs last season, stole 40 bases, his team played a 161-game season and he should have been MVP. But he wasn't. Rather than mope, however, and rather than accept a hand-me-down award if it comes to winner Ryan Braun being deemed a PEDs cheat and relinquishing it ("That's not the way I want to win it," Kemp said), he called 50-50.

He gets 50/50 the 8/160 deal he signed is a steal for the Dodgers. Would love to see it happen, but it won't.

Still, he was robbed of the MVP in 2011.

Love Kemp and think he deserved the MVP 100%... but there's no chance he comes close to touching 50/50. Good for him for talking it up, though.

Talk is just that, talk. Only interesting if he actually does it. The only thing that stuck out to me is that the Dodgers only played 161 games. Did they have a rain-out that they didn't have to make up or something?

IIRC the Nats also only played 161. So yeah, it was probably a rained out game between the two that was never rescheduled because it had no playoff implications.

Which is utterly ridiculous, now that I think about it. Kemp was 1 HR away from 40/40 and I believe the Nats were a game away from .500. It may not mean anything to the post-season, but both those things certainly would mean a lot to fans.
