With the FIFTH pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS select:

MORRIS CLAIBORNE -- CB -- LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FTZm5aCtYG8/TtWIpw_4etI/AAAAAAAAAHg/599XCrB5UXI/s1600/4a830_morris-claiborne-p1.jpg

Tampa Bay needs help everywhere on the defense, and Morris Claiborne represents both the best player available on the board and also one of the best "fits" for the team.

New head coach Greg Schiano has stated he will be playing a more attacking style of defense (as opposed to the more traditional Tampa-2 the team has been known for) -- a philosophy that will undoubtedly leave DBs matched up one-on-one with receivers from time to time. Claiborne will be a tremendous team asset in a division that sees them face Cam Newton, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan 2 times each per season, and on a defense that may be without the services of perennial pro-bowler Ronde Barber (retirement) and Aquib Talib (pending felony conviction).

The Rams select RB Trent Richardson from Alabama. Though the Rams have Steven Jackson, I still think the Fischer regime is going to take the best available. Trent is probably going to be there when the Rams draft 6th.

This was a difficult decision as there were multiple options available with this pick. However the potential Brockers offers was simply too much to pass. The Eagles run defense needs improvement and Brockers is the best run stopper in this draft.

With the 17th pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Cordy Glenn, OG, Georgia.

http://media.zenfs.com/en/blogs/sptusnflexperts/yahoo_cordy_glenn.jpg

I really wanted DeCastro but Glenn is a very nice consolation prize. Glenn (6-5 345) and Andre Smith (6-4 335) now form the "Great Wall".

Pass blocking: Surprisingly agile for a big man but is susceptible to speed rushes which likely will force him back inside or to right tackle after starting the entire 2011 season on the blindside for the Bulldogs. Eases out of his stance and waits for the defender to come to him. Possesses long arms and is very powerful, often easily controlling his opponent. Naturally balanced with good lateral agility to mirror the defender. Wide-bodied so opponents can rarely get past him and has an excellent anchor so bull rushes are futile. Nitpicking, but can be a bit inconsistent with his recognition on combination blocks. Typically gets an initial punch in on the defensive tackle before switching off to take on the blitzing linebacker, but can be fooled and miss his assignment. Can get a bit lazy with his hand placement, making him vulnerable to swim moves.

Run blocking: Excellent size and strength as a drive blocker. Can get fundamentally lazy, at times, playing too high and/or being a beat late off the snap. As such, he can miss with his initial punch and fail to push back his target. More often, he shows good hand placement and the leg drive to clear a hole. Powerful. Can knock defenders off the ball, providing impressive pancake blocks against even talented opponents. Good recognition in combination blocks in the running game. Good, powerful initial shove to the defensive tackle and gets to the second level with good quickness. Shows the ability to adjust his path to locate and attack his target. Rare body control for a man of his size when blocking at the second level.

Pulling/trapping: Shows surprising quickness and fluidity when pulling from left guard to lead on the toss and counter. Light on his feet and can adjust to hit the moving target at the second level.

Initial Quickness: A bit inconsistent with his initial get-off, though this may be simply a concentration issue with the snap-count. Demonstrates good initial quickness off the snap (especially for a man of his size) when pulling, but can be a beat late off the snap on other plays. Rarely is he actually beaten when late off the snap, however, due to his girth and long, powerful arms to catch and contain his assignment.

Downfield: Perhaps his most impressive trait, which is saying something. Gets to the second level quickly and consistently erases linebackers from the play. Doesn't waste his energy with pancake blocks, but instead seals off the defender completely, assuring that his assignment isn't in position to impact the ball-carrier.

Intangibles: Had four starts at left tackle over his career (all in 2009) entering the 2011 season. Turned in his paperwork to the NFL Draft Advisory Committee following last season but elected to return based partially on the plan to see more time at left tackle in 2011. Never missed a game due to injury while at Georgia.

With the 19th pick the Chicago Bears select... Coby Fleener TE Stanford. I know this might be a bit of a reach, but the Bears will have a new offense this season. A new offense that will utilize a pass catching tight end, which is something that the Bears do not have on their roster. Fleener is far and away the best tight end prospect in this draft, so in order to fill this hole the Bears may need to reach a bit. I also considered, Nick Perry DE USC.

Good choice. He can start at OG for a season and if need be has the ability to play RT when the Bengals decline to re-sign Andre "can't stay fit or healthy" Smith. If you are still of the mind to select a CB #21 I'd ask you to consider Gilmore over Kirkpatrick. JMO but I think Gilmore is/will prove to be the better pro.

He did but not fond of him. There's a reason the workout for him was so important, his game tape isn't, relatively speaking. If I were gonna go WR here I'd much rather have Floyd, Wright and even Hill over him. Actually Hill is my favorite WR in this draft, though admittedly he is quite raw. Speaking of Hill GT sure has turned out some serious studs at the WR position as of late, Megatron and of course Demaryius Thomas started to come on last year.

While I agree in general, Stephen Garcia's shenanigins, certainly contributed to Jeffrey's problems. He also bulked up to 233 lbs, in an effort to play stronger. Instead he just played slower. He weighed in at 213 today. This one is on the scouts.

With the 21st pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina.

http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Stephon+Gilmore+South+Carolina+v+North+Carolina+dQ zz_BldwxMl.jpg

Last time the Bengals selected a Gamecocks' CB in the first he turned out to be pretty good. ;) Gilmore is shooting up draft boards and fits nicely on this roster. I love the intangibles this kid brings to the table.

Man Coverage: Plays mostly in press-bail or off-coverage. Flashes a tough, aggressive punch after the snap in rare press coverage occasions, but may not have the strength to knock NFL receivers off their routes. Not elite transitioning forward from backpedal, will take an extra step or loop a bit when closing on slants. Lacks elite recovery and straight-line speed to stay with faster wideouts down the field if beaten on a double move or losing a step off the line.

Zone Coverage: Fits best in a zone system like he currently plays. Knows his, and others', assignments on every play. Comes out initial read quickly to stop the underneath route dead. Quick feet in off coverage to adjust to inside routes, even when playing outside technique. Explodes to plays in front of him, cutting down his target or wrapping up if able to line up the receiver. Forces turnovers and dropped passes with his ability to arrive strong at the receiver with the ball.

Ball Skills: Makes quarterbacks pay for poor throws with centerfielder-like instincts and hands. Uses his height in full advantage on jump balls, make difficult catches with his hands extended away from his frame. Excellent elusiveness after the catch that shows as a punt returner. Has solid hands and typically makes the right decision to fair catch, but does not have breakaway speed and will dance or move east-west instead of heading straight upfield.

Run Support: Takes run support very seriously, seeking out contact. Chops down runs to his side when able, evades most receivers blocks with quickness and quick hands -- though NFL receivers will have regular success holding him up on the outside because of his slight build.

Tackling: Aggressive hitter in the secondary who plays without regard to his own safety. Best when coming downhill and cutting down ballcarriers with a low shoulder. Constantly looking to strip the football from ballcarriers while other defenders are making the tackle. Man-up tackling is a challenge for him, however, when facing a strong runner who lowers his pads or larger receivers with the length to stiff-arm him. Plays on coverage units. Brought on edge blitzes regularly when front four isn't getting there, uses quickness and big hits to create turnovers from the blind side.

Intangibles: Left after junior season with 40 career starts. Quiet, hard-working player who consistently gets praise from coaches and teammates for his work ethic and attitude. Puts in time in the film room, knows his opponents and defensive scheme inside and out. No worries about on-field effort, brings tenacious attitude on every play.

Staying with my original pick.

The New England Patriots come into this draft looking to fill numerous holes and with four picks in the first two rounds will have that opportunity. Defensively the Pats were one of the worst teams in the league, but had to rely on Tom Brady to carry the load. In addition, the offense needs more weapons to build around Brady, so both offense and defense will be a concern.

Wes Welker isn't getting any younger, and the Patriots will look to add some extra help at receiver.

With the 27th pick in the draft, the Patriots select:

http://ww4.hdnux.com/photos/07/05/47/1857987/3/628x471.jpg

Kendall Wright (WR-Baylor)

In addition to being RGIII's top target, Wright is a terrific kick return specialist, giving the Patriots another weapon and eventual replacement for Wes Welker.

With the last pick in the first edition of the Redszone Mock Draft the Super Bowl Champion New York Football Giants select Nick Perry, DE, USC.

With Dave Tollefson leaving it opens up a spot in rotation. With Pierre-Paul, Tuck and Osi it gives Perry a year to develop and only be used in spot duty, i.e., getting after passer on passing downs. Futhermore, with Osi only having one year left on contract it gives us flexibility and a potential replacement. Plus, he is clearly the highest rated player left on the Puffy Big Board and, as the Super Bowl 46 champs, we can go for highest rated player regardless of top needs. Because, ya know, we just won the freakin Super Bowl!!

I don't know how he fell this far, and I don't see how he ever will in the real draft, but Bills fans enjoy the fantasy of getting no question a top 5 CB in this draft at 41, and arguably the #2 corner. I guess everyone may have been concerned over the marijuana possession incident, but all charges were dismissed and really, its just marijuana anyways.

With the 41st pick of the draft the Buffalo Bills select Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama

We are going on 48 hours since the last choice and the next guy in line has been on the site since then.

Seattle Selects: Chandler Jones DE Syracuse

http://media.syracuse.com/orangefootball/photo/10587950-large.jpg

Jones is a late riser at DE but in some places ranked as high as #20 overall. He will need to add some size and strength but has the room to add it, he's got all the tools to become a top flight pass rusher something Seattle needs more than arguably anything. Seattle also needs to look at LB and WR but the value of such a pass rusher here is too good to pass on as it's at such a premium.

Buckeye33 had to select for K.C. because that poster never showed so I'll go ahead and draft for them here so we can make some head way. I might as well pick for them and Dallas who has the next choice and NJReds won't be around. Not trying to claim these teams but I'm happy to fill in where needed.

Mario-Rijo

K.C. Selects: Alameda Ta'amu NT Washington

http://www.heraldnet.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde?Site=DH&Date=20110916&Category=SPORTS&ArtNo=709169933&Ref=AR&MaxW=306&MaxH=296

At 6-2½ and 348 pounds, Ta'amu is built like the prototypical 3-4 nose tackle. He could play with better pad level at times, but his low center of gravity and rare size make leverage less of a concern than for some other nose tackle prospects. He also has the upper-body strength (35 reps at the combine) to control and shed blockers in time to make play.

Ta'amu is never going to be a feared interior pass-rusher, but he's a strong bull-rusher who can drive blockers back at times and make it tough for quarterbacks to step up in the pocket. Finally, he rarely came off the field at Washington, so there's a lot to like about his motor and endurance.

KC's biggest need is arguably NT so this is a match made in heaven.

Dallas Cowboys select: Shea McClellin OLB Boise St.

http://www.bobgretz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/032312_2241_DraftProfil2.jpg

Another late riser who is listed as high as the #2 OLB in the draft in some places. The Cowboys need solid depth and future starters at several positions and this is one with Spencer given the franchise tag for 2012, Shea can be his replacement after '12.

The Philadelphia Eagles select Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State

http://buckeyebanter.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Adams.jpg

Pass blocking: Tall, long, athletic pass protector. Generally gets out of three-point stance with good knee bend and a wide base. Improving his ability to use his hands to redirect rushers and late blitzers away from the pocket. Power rushers lose most battles. Has an adequate anchor in close quarters, will reset hands and move feet to sustain. Stops his feet after initial contact, relying on length but allowing defender to get the corner or spin inside.

Run blocking: Solid positional run blocker who flashes the nasty demeanor and killer instinct scouts covet. Attacks when necessary, though he won't consistently dominate and can lose balance when overextending. Quick feet to get inside of defensive tackles to wall off inside and reach linebackers at the second level. Nice punch which he uses to knock down smaller defenders with one extension. Height can be a detriment in short-yardage, defender can get under his pads to hold the line. Flashes the ability to move his man with his hands, but is not yet consistent in this area.

Pulling/trapping: Best on the outside because of his height and athleticism, but is capable of blocking on the move. Effective in space and usually drops his hips to get leverage and sustain against shorter defenders.

Initial Quickness: Excellent quick-twitch movement off the snap in pass protection and as a run blocker. Finds defenders with his hands immediately and gets feet moving to engage and sustain. Can be beat off the edge coming out of his stance lunging to reach speedy wide rushers.

Downfield: Quick out of his stance with the footwork to be effective in front of screens. Willing to get out in front of ballcarriers to take out defensive backs and linebackers. Used at tight end on unbalanced lines.

Intangibles: Suspended the first two games of the 2009 season for violating team rules, cited in January 2009 for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia (charges were eventually dropped) after being stopped for running a stop sign. One of five players suspended for first five games of 2011 season for receiving benefits from a tattoo parlor owner, selling championship rings, jerseys and awards; Adams was required to pay back $1,000 for the ring he sold.

The Jets select OT Bobbie Massie Ole Miss

Quite the physical specimen and surprisingly light on his feet for a man his size, Massie has reportedly dropped weight and added muscle in preparation for the Combine. The Rebel did not miss a game during his time at Oxford, starting 17 games at right tackle and helped Ole Miss lead the SEC in fewest sacks allowed and ranked 3rd in rushing offense.

Massie, while not the "smooth technician" that some of the higher ranked tackles are in pass protection, utilizes his excellent size, long arms and quick feet well . . . and if he gets his massive mitts on a defender, it's game over. He gets out of his stance and into position with decent knee bend and good balance, but needs to concentrate on keeping his pad level lower. Massie demonstrates an ability to change direction and can cut off the edge.

Strengths
- Extremely athletic, strong and fast
- Natural bender and able to drive block
- Finishes blocks with a nasty demeanor
- Very quick off snap and positions body well

Weaknesses
- Needs to improve pass blocking techniques
- Defenders can get into his body
- Lateral kick could be improved for NFL speed rushers

With the first pick of the second round, the New England Patriots turn to the defensive line and select Jerel Worthy (DE-Michigan State)

http://www.statenews.com/media/00/00/04/73/47387_yjw_fbc_outbackvsgeorgia029_01022012f.jpg

Kinda surprised Worthy lasted this long, but he is a perfect fit as a 3-4 DE or even at DT. The Patriots could use Worthy as a long overdue replacement for Richard Seymour.

The Philadelphia Eagles select Bobby Wagner, OLB, Utah State

http://www.deseretnews.com/images/article/contentimage/642225/642225.jpg

Read and react: Instinctive defender who is aggressive to slip through cracks and stop the running back in the hole. Good patience. Doesn't commit too soon showing the ability to break down in space, wait for the ball carrier to commit and closing quickly for the reliable stop.

Run defense: Good balance and strong, long arms for the pull-down tackle while engaged in a block. Shows good patience and then closes quickly in the hole. Looks to slip blocks with quick hands rather than forcefully taking them on and shedding with violence.

Pass defense: Cognizant in coverage. Showed better-than-expected fluidity and instincts in coverage during the Senior Bowl practices. A bit heavy-footed and was occasionally beaten to the flanks or down the sideline, leaving questions about whether he has the speed to play outside in the NFL.

Tackling: Wraps his arms on most tackles to bring ball carriers to a quick stop. Good lateral and downfield pursuit.

Pass Rush/Blitz: Experienced pass rusher with enough burst to slip by offensive tackles and enough power to blow through running backs left in pass protection. Shows good effort but only a moderate feel for rushing the passer. Allowed to loop around to find favorable matchups, on occasion, but relies too much on speed and bull rushes rather than using any real technique.

Intangibles: Possesses a thick build with impressive overall musculature. Intelligent and dedicated. Capable of contributing early in his career. Voted a team captain in 2010-11.

The Cincinnati Bengals select Doug Martin, RB, Boise State

http://inboise.org/wp-content/plugins/rss-poster/cache/72b1b_img15536992.jpg

Good draft so far for the Bengals with Glenn, Gilmore and Martin.

Inside: Bowling-ball runner between the tackles. Flashes a burst into and out of the hole. Lowers his pads and delivers a blow into the chest of defenders. Falls forward on nearly every run due to lean. Finds creases with jump-steps and bounces into open on some plays, but buries his head too soon at times. Short build makes it difficult for defenders to find among lineman. Does not always read blocks correctly from pulling guards. Holds ball high and tight when inside. May not be big enough to move piles at the next level, but gets low and gives great effort to pick up short-yardage plays.

Outside: Good acceleration and straight-line speed to break off long runs. Cuts hard to his left and right equally well to avoid hard-charging safeties. Flashes setting up straight-on defender with inside-out cut which freezes them. Strong stiff-arm denies oncoming tacklers. Shows patience on stretch runs, plants foot and accelerates to avoid penetrating defenders or once finding a hole. Does not always move ball to outside hand. Ball gets away from his body when running at full speed; fumbled three times in 2010, twice in 2009 in limited carries. May not break away from NFL defenders as regularly as he did against non-BCS conference competition.

Breaking tackles: Low center of gravity, strong lean, and powerful legs let him bull through arm and shoulder tackles. Good balance to spin off a hit, maintain balance and continue downfield. Lowers pads on contact and churns through cut tackles in space. Cuts quickly and even jump-cuts through traffic and past second-level tacklers. Plays through the whistle.

Blocking: Does not offer much in terms of pass protection. Often subbed out in obvious passing situations, best help for the quarterback is as an outlet receiver. Does not anchor against oncoming blitzers. Poor cut tackler, defenders easily elude him. Lacks height but possesses strength, build and attitude to improve with more coaching.

Receiving: Solid receiver in the flat, capable of running through tackles on the edge to move the chains. Flexible enough to catch passes thrown behind him. Effective on center screens, makes first man miss to get into space. Rarely goes out of bounds (unless time requires), cuts inside tacklers to get extra yardage.

Intangibles: Offensive weapon with defensive mindset. NFL body comes from excellent weight room work ethic. Teammate Matt Slater referred to Martin as a "muscle hamster" due to his compact build.

The Browns have gotten addressed every glaring need on offense in this scenario. They completely ignored defense early, but will address that from this point forward.

6'5 220 and rated as the #4 WR in the draft by Kiper, only behind Blackmon, Floyd, and Kendall Wright. Kiper had the Bills taking Quick in Rd 2. I thought that would've been fine when I picked then, but i couldn't pass on Kirkpatrick. Somehow, he still fell to the bills in rd 3.

And his last name is Quick. A WR can't really have a better name.

Great Pick, probably the best value so far. This kid shouldn't even be there this late. I almost took him with Seattle's pick in the 2nd but I have Chandler Jones rated about the same place as he but DE is tougher to find than OLB so I gave him the edge. But every other team I picked for in the 2nd I just couldn't ignore their needs and their defense; 3-4's all but Atlanta and they got the last of the blue chip DE's IMO.

I like it, great value pick and fills a need as depth. If we were to lose Geno for any extended amount of time Wolfe can give us some pass rush from that position. Can play a little end as well IMO.

I'll pick a in a few minutes.
