Jerry Lynch passed away on Mar 31. He played for the Reds from 1957 through 1963. He was never a full time player, but was a very good pinch hitter. He hit 17 home runs in 1959 as a part time player. RIP Jerry Lynch

Yea, remember him well. RIP Jerry Lynch. (He was a great pinch-hitter!)

I always think of Art Shamsky when Lynch is mentioned and vice versa.

Shamsky, is best known for hitting 4 consecutive home runs in 4 at-bats over 2 games (1966). He is the only player in MLB history to hit 3 home runs in a game who was not in the starting lineup when the game began. Also, 2 of the 3 home runs came in extra innings.
The fourth home run was hit as a pinch-hitter in the next game. The bat used to accomplish the feat of 4 home runs in a row is on display in Baseball's Hall of Fame.
