Biggest reach yet. Tannehill is nothing special at quarterback and IMO his ceiling will turn out to be a decent, but not franchise QB.

Oxilon

Ryan Tannehill...what are people seeing?

QB driven league. We saw it last year when should-be 2nd and 3rd round QBs like Gabbert and Ponder were taken early in the first. Same thing happened with Tannehill.

IMO the NFL is headed towards an arena football style game with little to no rushing or defense. The game is becoming very pass happy and pass defense rules are too strict. If you watch an NFL game pretty much every PI call will go against the defense and never against the offense, that is ridiculous.

Here is an article on the subject:

Yea, what the heck? Sounds like a bit of a predetermined pick. Ingram is already better at the same position.

Bengals will have a choice of DeCastro or Ingram. Basically everybody other than Gilmore we expected there is there.

I'd be happy if the DL was addressed. After the oft-injured Dunlap and Atkins, our D-line is honestly not that great. Ingram would be a big upgrade.

Nevertheless, Decastro is there. Can't see us passing him at this point unless Brown doesn't like 1st round guards that much.

Zeitler was a safe pick. I would have liked Glenn or DeCastro but you can't go wrong with an O-lineman from Wisconsin. Kirkpatrick wasn't a bad pick either and it filled a need.

People are going to be nervous about the DeCastro thing. It has never been out and out said, but I don't think the Bengals coaches like him in their system. Tonight I heard Dave Lapham say that the Bengals wouldn't take DeCastro. A couple days ago, I heard someone say that the Bengals were really high on Zeitler. Zeitler is more in line with a younger Bobbie Williams. He is a true anchor, and he gets push. The crap of guards getting pushed into the backfield stops now. I hated Zeitler when he played for Wisconsin, because he was so good.

I wonder if the Bengals plan on using Kirkpatrick at CB or safety?

I'm willing to give Marvin / Zimmer the benefit of the doubt, but I'm hesitant drafting CBs who have questionable coverage ability and ball skills. I like that he's good in the run, but that seems less important if he isn't good in coverage.

Actually a few sites out there thought Denver would look at Brock to learn behind Manning. He is a bit of a project.

He was a projected mid-late round QB the ENTIRE season, and then like 1 week after he gets blown out by Boise State his stock just blew up. I never understood that.

Last night:

Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was the victim of a draft-night prank which led him to believe he was being taken in the first round by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Sanu received a phone call from someone identifying himself as a member of the Bengals before Cincinnati made the 27th overall pick, according to Sanu's agent, Mike McCartney.

Sanu and his draft party celebrated until everyone saw the name of guard Kevin Zeitler flash across the TV screen as the Bengals' selection.

"Everybody's going nuts in his home. He's like, 'I can't hear you, Mike, I'll call you soon,' " McCartney told The Star-Ledger on Friday. "His brother calls me and he's euphoric and going nuts. We're all kind of high-fiving over the phone. And I said, 'They're about to show it on ESPN. I'll call you later.'

"And then they show (Kevin) Zeitler," McCartney told the paper.

The Bengals got a serious case of the BPA. Thompson and Still are going to be tough to fit into the line interior with Atkins, Peko, and Sims. I imagine one of them's gonna be moving to the outside. That D-Line is gonna be fearsome. Sanu looks to help us out a ton and give us a legit #2 option beyond Hawkins.

Supposedly Lamar Miller has a shoulder injury that he will have surgery on this week. That is why he is dropping.

I would like to see the Bengals get
Lamar Miller RB Miami (if doctors know he will be ok)
Vontaze Burfict LB Arizona State (Dontay Moch only linebacker signed beyond 2012)
Mike Brewster C/G Ohio State (talented, needs three weeks of real coaching and a real strength program, he will be just fine)
Markelle Martin S Oklahoma State (Athletic Gambler type)

Yeah I agree. I'd still like a good safety but I recognize why we haven't taken one yet. DeQuan Menzie is my guy there. I'd also like to see Robert Turbin or LaMar Miller but not at the cost of Menzie who I think will go in the 4th. There are several intriguing backs in the 5th round range and later and we have 3 5th's so I'm fine with taking one there. Also LB I think needs some depth with guys coming back from injuries. Perhaps a TE prospect, a DE developmental type and a FB to fill out things.

My final rounds
4th - DeQuan Menzie S 'Bama/Bobby Massie OT
5A - L. Miller/R. Turbin/Tauren Poole RB Tenn./M. Smith Utah St.
5B - Burfict/M. Dowtin LB NAU/Malik Jackson DE
5C - Cody Pearcy WR/CB/PR/KR Huntingdon College Alabama
6th - Emil Igwenagu FB Umass

I'd really like to see the Bengals draft Antonio Allen. Though his draft stock isn't high, he looked like the best player on the SC defense at times, even better than Gilmore or Ingram. Always seemed to know where the ball was. The big knock on him is poor coverage skills, but he's more untested than anything else, as his role didn't really extend to that. Stuffs the run like nobody's business. Team leader. Works as a SS or a OLB.

Looks like the Bengals got some serious value. No running back so far may disappoint fans (though don't rule it out yet with Gray still on the board), but Jones and Iloka should both be guaranteed a spot on the roster, which is excellent for fifth round picks. Jones sounds like just the possession receiver we need, while Iloka either gets to learn under Reggie Nelson at FS or move to SS and compete with Mays.

How have the Bengals came out in this draft?

For whatever it's worth, Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and Ron Jaworski all agreed that the Bengals had one of, if not the best draft of all of the teams.

Personally, I'd give this draft a B+.

They got very good value in Still, Sanu, Thompson, and Charles. I also liked the Zeitler pickup in the 1st.
However, I still think the jury is out on Kirkpatrick, and I would have liked to have seen SS and RB addressed earlier. Also would have liked to have seen Randle with the 53rd pick instead of Still.

Now I hope they bring Chris Polk in as an undrafted FA to compete with Herron and Scott for the backup RB job. I also wouldn't mind a flyer on Vontaze Burfict.

I think we were pretty close to on the same page according to these comments. I agree whole heartedly on Kirkpatrick, the jury is out. Not sure he plays man very well, though I could envision him as potentially elite Safety. The Bengals rarely move a player though especially when they don't value Safety nearly as much. Also I heard Saban had to keep his thumb on this kid to keep him out of trouble, as a pro he will have to be more accountable himself.

Where I disagree here is there is no way I pass on Still for a guy (Randle) who although fast has 1 flaw that drops his value in my estimation, his acceleration doesn't match his speed and acceleration to me is more indicative of a big time playmaker especially deep threats. Not that I don't think he wasn't worth a 2nd round pick (a late 2nd albeit) but given who we got instead it's just a no brainer for me. Still has no major flaws to his talent, from where I sit he could prove to be our best DL in a year or 2. I wasn't completely sold on his motivation until I heard his press conference on Bengals.com and then I really was enamored with his potential. Very smart, focused and accountable.

Bengals.com video presser link (http://www.bengals.com/media-lounge/videos/Still-Sanu-Thompson-Press-Conference-42812/476f5a62-0c8a-481d-bf78-6e25b1d239b5)

IMO Best Bengals draft I have ever witnessed. With a little luck (health wise) these guys will prove to be a large part of the core to a lot of success.
