This guy is turning into a player that seriously needs to sit down against lefties because he tries to pull everything!! The reason the Reds offense is streaky and inconsistent is because of players like him. He leaves too many potential RBI'S on base. What is his average with runners in scoring position??? I'm not saying he needs to be traded but he needs a kick in the butt. If that doesn't work Walt needs to explore other options

Not the best timing for an anti-Jay Bruce thread. He's been on fire lately, and after going 1-26 against Wandy Rodriguez in his career, he's 1-3 tonight.

I'm not talking about this game only!! anytime a player hit 30 homeruns and drives less than 100 RBIs thats a red flag to me..open your eyes

He has always tried to pull too many pitches....but whatever.

I don't care that he hit .291 with runners in scoring position..if your RISP W/2out avg is .211 and with the bases loaded is .150??? are you serious???! do you want me to put this years stats up???

hitting .291 with RISP STAT doesn't tell me if he had infield singles or not.

How many bases loaded at bats do you get in a year? Dozen?

I do believe he would excel under different hitting coaches/managers.

I don't think theres a stat for the number of Bases loaded at bats...but good power hitters avg should improve with bases loaded

I'm sorry he had 18 at bats with bases loaded in 2011

If bases are loaded the pitcher is obviously laboring and trying to get off the mound....batter should be extra patient....Bruce in those situations is extra impatient.....good pitchers know this.

There's nothing to see. What players have improved as a hitter under Dusty and Jacoby?

Thank you. Why single out Bruce, especially when he's been on fire lately?

I have plenty of threads bashing Dusty on here, so I'm on record of not wanting him as the manager..But at what point do you blame the player for not not recognizing a problem and correcting it himself? Bruce is one of the Players Walt locked up long term early based on his up side potential. I think Bruce doesn't work on his craft at the plate seriously like Votto. And lower his elbow in his batting stance so he won't have that "looping" swing with those pitches low and away..stop pulling ground balls to 2nd base.

What could the Reds get for Bruce?

I would take Evan Longeria or another pitcher

For a guy that bats in the 6th spot, who bats in front of him has a lot to do with how many RBIs he will hit. You move Bruce to the 3 or 4 spot and watch how his numbers change. He is doing just fine and his numbers will be there by the end of the season.

I am not agreeing with shady here 100% but jay is still making mistakes that he made as a rookie....that needs to change. He also has improved in other areas. The one area I want to see improvement is recognizing off speed pitches.

Bruce has a .138 OPS vs. Rodriguez for his career and and .831 vs. Halladay. Go figure.
