Joel Sherman of the NY Post tweeted that the Reds have signed reliever Michael Wuertz, who had some good seasons before struggling last year with thumb and hamstring injuries and control issues, the latter being not particularly new to him.

He will be assigned to Louisville.

I wonder who he will replace. There isn't anyone in Louisville's bullpen who "deserves" to get sent down. I wonder if an injury has occurred.

Things are going to get Wuertz before they get better.

As I assumed, Wuertz will first report to Goodyear.

Here we are over-reacting again on Redszone. This is a Wuertz case scenario we are talking about guys, settle down.

I hear that when Wuertz was a kid, he was a brat.

This is a joke right? Carroll, Webb, Fisher, Smith, Christiani not to mention loads in the rotation like Gallagher and Brackman. Its long past time to cut bait on a few of them. I'd probably keep Webb since he's a lefty and Christiani could be sent to AA if need be. The rest can go.

But he wanted to grow up to be a Met(t).

It may mean they are extremely worried about Masset.

Could be. I was always high on Wuertz when he was with the Cubs. He was awful kast year,

Too bad for Wuertz. Reds released him today ("http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/07/reds-release-michael-wuertz.html).

These jokes keep going from bad to Wuertz.

edit:
Looks like I'm late to the party; Chip already did this one. :(

Wuertz-case scenario: He goes to the Cardinals and morphs into a dominant reliever.

Maybe Jacoby can turn Wuertz into a hitter instead of a pitcher. What's the wuertz that could happen?
