Reds:

Aaron Harang (34) -Seems like a great guy; I root for him. In 2005 he pitched a game with the word "Cincinnati" misspelled on the front of his jersey.

Glenn Sutko (44) -Briefly a backup to the backup catcher, then attempted a comeback as a pitcher. Currently runs a baseball academy in Georgia.

John Stuper (55) -A Red in 1985; currently the head baseball coach at Yale.

Sam Mejias (60) -Strong-armed spare OF who later managed for a decade in the Reds system.

Others:

Prince Fielder (28) -Supposedly hit a homer into the upper deck at Tiger Stadium when he was 12...David Bell and Russell Branyan are the two players that played with both Cecil and Prince Fielder.

Tony Gwynn (52) -I think he's the first Hall of Famer to be born in the 1960s..Both his 2000th and 3000th hits came on August 6, which is his mother's birthday.

Billy Jurges -Cubs shortstop in the early 1930s. In 1932 he was shot twice by a female nightclub singer with whom he apparently had some sort of relationship. He recovered in about three weeks, however. Also, in 1959 he was the manager of the Boston Red Sox when they became the last team to integrate.

Just seems wrong for someone named STUPER to be coaching at the prestigious academic institution named Yale, lol.

I always wondered if Sam might be related (son maybe?) to Roman Mejias who played in the 50s and 60s. I googled it but no luck. Anyone know?

Baseball-reference.com usually lists such connections but it doesn't have anything for the Mejiases. Plus, Roman is Cuban and Sam is from the D.R., not that that necessarily rules it out.
