From Sheldon's blog: 5/11 vs WAS

*LHP Gio Gonzalez could be a handful for the Reds tonight. In two career starts, totaling 14 innings — Gonzalez has not allowed a run. He gave up two hits with no walks and seven strikeouts on April 12 vs. CIN at Washington.

*The Reds pitching staff ranks fifth in the NL with a 3.27 ERA. They are 12-6 with a 2.64 ERA over the last 18 games.

From me:
Let's go LEAKE. Prove this board wrong!

I was thinking Latos was going today. I forgot about the change last week due to the rainout. Not crazy about the Leake vs Gonzalez matchup. It definitely doesn't favor us.

Guys are hard to beat when they don't let your team score. Of course, the Reds weathered Greinke.

Wow, Harper looked overmatched.

Mes will be down in AAA again if he doesn't watch it. I was a big proponent of him staying up, but he really needs to work on his game calling ability. He is not major league worthy. If the Reds were rebuilding, I would be ok. But not now.

It has nothing to do with being afraid of Mes. A lot of pitchers have preferred catchers that they're comfortable with, guys who are on the same page with what they're trying to do. Arroyo+Hanigan is working, there's no reason at all to mess with that.

We tried Latos with Mesoraco and it was really bad, not putting it all on Mes here, but we would not have made the switch to Hanigan unless the two guys weren't comfortable working together. And Latos has been better since.

Cueto can pick whoever he wants imo. So to get Mes time, he gets Leake and Bailey by default.

That comparison made absolutely no sense. You especially don't take the guy out of the role he is right now the way he's throwing the ball. He's very comfortable. Adding him to the rotation is a panic move, something forums of all teams are famous for. Hell if fans had it their way they'd trade half the roster before the season was over.

That's how I feel about it too. You couldn't ask for a better teammate or a more professional player, but he just doesn't have it anymore. He's still reliable defensively, though his range isn't what it once was, but he is done as a consistent threat with the bat.

I wouldn't say that. I don't think we have two 3rd baseman better than him. He's still a great defender.

Frazier is going to start taking more of his time as the season goes on, or more likely is Rolen will go to the DL for what we call a sore shoulder to try and freshen him back up.

Also, that was a great defensive game by the Nats. With that pitching and D you can see why their record is what it is. They're good.
