Sorry Who Dey, but I have to start this one to break the losing streak.

REDS
Stubbs, D, CF
Heisey, C, LF
Votto, J, 1B
Phillips, B, 2B
Bruce, J, RF
Frazier, T, 3B
Hanigan, R, C
Valdez, W, SS
Arroyo, B, P

NATIONALS
Desmond, I, SS
Bernadina, R, LF
Zimmerman, R, 3B
LaRoche, A, 1B
Harper, B, RF
Espinosa, D, 2B
Ankiel, R, CF
Flores, J, C
Jackson, E, P

Once again, rain may be a factor in an Arroyo start.

Interesting lineup, let's hope it works.

DirtyBaker

Also surprised Davey Johnson has Harper batting 5th as poorly as he hits off-speed pitches with a finesse pitcher like Arroyo on the mound.

Any updates on the game? I can't get the audio, MLB app doesn't play the audio stream during delays for whatever reason and I can't get the banana phone. From radar it looks like most has passed and it's all clear behind the front.

Well thanks for the updates Ironman. Weather.com radar looked good awhile ago but another branch of showers appeared with Cinci right in the middle of it. Could be another 30-60 minutes but who knows judging how this front is just hovering about.

Hopefully those at the game are making the best of it.

Yes, but some concession stands have shut down.

I don't see how anyone could complain about pitching in a 2-1 game. Our problem today is the same problem we've had since opening day -- this team can't score. If it wasn't for Votto and Bruce, I could easily see this team going literally days at a time without scoring a single run.

No question....pitcher had to give him a strike in that situation or else blow the save. The result was glorious :D

My cousin sent me a text from Roosters in Chillicothe (OHIO). He said the place went nuts after the grand slam.

Well....3 hour and 36 minute delay proved worthwhile.

What a freaking long day at GABP.

Seats about 20-25 feet from Harper in his normal position (which was 20 feet deeper than Bruce) when Stubbs was up in the first...Harper was seriously 12 feet from the warning track....only 15 feet away on Valdez.

A lot of good stuff!

What do you mean "Finally earned his money"? He has been pitched around all year and had still managed to put together a pretty good year. Plus, he isn't even gettin paid all that money yet. Some fans just don't get it!!!!

SWING AWAY: Baker suggested that, for hitters, swinging at the first pitch is fine and that working the count is overrated.

Perfect.

Working the count is overrated and so is clogging up the bases all the time by getting on. Just swing early and often. That's the ticket.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Our esteemed manager.

I bet he was tempted to bench Barry Bonds for taking all those walks. Joey, don't think your job is safe either. We ain't walking our way out of this slump.

I wonder how many toothpicks he went through when Stubbs and Heisey walked in the ninth. Was anyone else surprised Votto was able to hit one out with the bases all clogged up like that?

The approach this year has been maddening. I wouldn't even mind being aggressive early in counts if they were a little selective. Like look for this pitch in this location and if I get it I'll let it rip...but that's not what's happening. They're getting themselves out on pitcher's pitches more often than not.
