It suprises me when Cueto gets scored on. So in that sense you may be right.

Me three. There is no reason to believe this, however, as a getaway game, and our legitimate, undisputed ace on the mound.

Lets hope we are wrong and hope this team is more consistent than we think it is.

If someone gets injured tonight I'm asking Dave for the mega-millions winning numbers. If I have to chose it better not be Votto, Cueto, or one of the relievers.

Cubs rallied late to tie the Cards. But St. Louis pulled it out in the bottom of the ninth.

texasdave

Doug Flynn did some ST games but I haven't heard him in the regular season. Is he doing any announcing on television?

The Rage
05-15-2012, 08:09 PM
I see Cueto gets Hanigan again, lucky guy.

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:13 PM
Cozart looks terrible at the plate. He's out on his front foot on anything slow, and behind anything fast.

texasdave
05-15-2012, 08:14 PM
Time for Johnny to go to work.

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:15 PM
The Reds have to be the worst 1st inning team in baseball. Seriously, they never put it on the other team it seems. Having Stubbs and Cozart at top doesn't help.

The Rage
05-15-2012, 08:16 PM
Cozart looks terrible at the plate. He's out on his front foot on anything slow, and behind anything fast.

I would move Phillips back to leadoff. Not much room for error.

NeilHamburger

texasdave

1-2-3.

NeilHamburger

Good breaker to get Chipper to roll over it. Anyone else get the feeling this is gonna be a fast game?

Doug Flynn did some ST games but I haven't heard him in the regular season. Is he doing any announcing on television?
I think it's just for radio right now. I watch UK baseball on Fox South occasionally, and Doug is part of the UK Network broadcast team. They talked about it briefly a couple days ago and he didn't say anything about TV stuff, just radio.

texasdave
05-15-2012, 08:28 PM
Hudson Barbasols Heisey.

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:29 PM
I run Bruce here. Hudson is a DP machine when on.

New York Red
05-15-2012, 08:30 PM

New York Red

Aggression is best controlled. Not much value to be added by Bruce at 3rd in a situation in which it was iffy, at best.

Frazier looks terrible

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:33 PM
When is Youk back from his injury, and when can we get him?

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:35 PM
Cueto has been 3-1, 2-0 and 2-0 on 3 of the first 4 hitters. Hopefully not a bad omen

NeilHamburger

New York Red

The Braves have the luxury of being able to load their lineup with lefties. If only the Reds could do that.

texasdave
05-15-2012, 08:41 PM
I don't mind that play from Bruce. Good play by the Braves to get him.

I understand there are a million ways to score from third with one out, but how many ways can you score from the bench? I think all this aggressive base running is comparable to base stealing. You have to be safe a good percentage of the time or else you are just hurting the team.

The Rage
05-15-2012, 08:42 PM
Braves hitters are tough outs. They don't give in easily.

Homemade chicken noodle soup. Life is good.

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:44 PM
They've been taking early and getting ahead of Cueto. They have much different management and a huge difference in hitting philosophy. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, a Baker led team will not use that strategy.

Pass this idea on to Walt.

NeilHamburger
05-15-2012, 08:45 PM
Baker has said his guys have gotten into too many deep counts this year, and that's the reason for the lack of offense. So, they aren't going to work many counts or take many walks.

Maker_84
05-15-2012, 08:46 PM
Not looking good. I wish we had an offense comparable to Atlanta

texasdave

its not just Walt, most fans can't grasp the idea of the left righty notion either. It is a difficult notion to comprehend.

texasdave

Left handed hitters do better against right handed pitchers than right handed hitters do. And this game is Exhibit 1.
I once thought like you.

But after reading the 23,00th post extolling the need for a big RH bat to hit cleanup (between the only LH bats in the lineup), I'm finally convinced...that the left/right split thing is a socialist red herring. That and a sinister, Satanic attempt to deceive the righteous, right-handed world.

Reds cut it to 6-2 and left two runners on in the 7th and two more in the 8th. One swing of the bat away a couple times.

As rough as this game is, I still take it over NBA playoffs.

Lebron late in the 4th quarter of big games is always entertaining lol.

Down to the last out. Votto didn't want to give his bat to the HOF. Said it was the best bat he ever had. I wouldn't have given it up if I felt that way. How would Joe Fan know the difference?

Is it me or does Kimbrel look like a right handed Billy Wagner?

Votto walks to extend the inning.

any time the Reds get down by more than 3 runs just count it as a loss. Sunday was an anomaly

We split on the road against a Braves team that's been as good as any in the league since the second week of the season. We've still only lost one of our last nine series. We are done with the Nats for the season, and won't play in Atlanta again. Plenty to be positive about, even after a loss, but I know not many will agree. At least we get to see a left-hander tomorrow, albeit a good one. Hopefully Leake can put together a quality start.

If they offered the Reds a split of this upcoming two-game series against the Mets, the Reds would be wise to take it and not look back.

Santana versus Leake should strongly favor the Mets.
Latos would rate a slight edge over Dickey. Maybe.

I would take a one out of two offer without batting an eye.

Heisey should start the next 3 games minimum.

Dusty was said to be starting Ludwick as he liked the matchup better....but since Heisey had three hits he stayed with the hot hand.
