This year Citi Field has been an extreme pitcher's park. Hopefully, Leake can make that work to his advantage.

2. They moved the fences in..and it's still a pitchers park?

2 players are batting where they should. Votto and Frazier. Ok maybe Mes.

Want to see:

BP (has proven to be better at lead off, and proven to suck at 4)
Hanigan (high OBP which is what you want in front of Votto, Dusty,)
Votto
Bruce (perish the thought, 2 lefties together)
Heisey
Cozart (until he proves he can hit consistently)
Stubbs (has been better in 2 hole but who wouldn't be in front of Votto)
Frazier

Since Stubbs will bat 1st or 2nd, then bat Hanigan 5th.
None of this will ever happen.

We have a bunch of two hitters. I think Stubbs, Cozart, and Phillips would all put up their best numbers in that position. Well since it's in front of Votto probably our entire team would.

The leadoff spot has been killing us though. I think Stubbs is sub .100 there and Cozart is in the .100s. Someone is gonna have to do well there, a healthy Phillips is probably our best option.

Tonights final score Mets 5 Reds 2. Mets score 5 off Leake before he's shutdown in the 4th. Votto gets a RBI and someone else hits a solo shot.

texasdave
05-16-2012, 06:43 PM
If the Reds were gonna give Bruce a day off during this 14-game stretch, this seems like the logical night. A tough lefty. A pitching match-up that favors the Mets on paper.

Some of this stuff you know by the time you get to high school ball. Your pitcher scores all the way from first base, with two outs, and is obviously completely gassed, and you're up there hacking away? That's pitiful, and not the first time we've seen Reds players do that this year.

We have had a bunch of days off the first two months of the season. It's ridiculous that Dusty feels the need to rest Bruce already.

This post sums up my problems with most Sundeckers:

1. They fail to look at the big picture.

2. They think all players are machines.

3. They fail to recognizer the lefty/righty percentages. (Bruce can use a day off, so give him the day off against the tough lefthander).

Pretty condescending post there. Just because I'm stuck in the Sundeck doesn't mean I'm clueless. I'm fully aware of the big picture and fully understand lefty-righty percentages. You aren't talking to a child here. I'm old enough to remember when star players routinely played 160 games a year, if healthy. I'm not suggesting another Cal Ripken streak, but when you only have two guys swinging the bat well, and you've already had numerous off days the first couple months, I'd like to see both those guys in the lineup. But I'm not freaking out about it. I made one post on the topic, before this. Now I'm done with it.

Speaking of Mr. Inning Killer...

Votto set to lead off yet again.
It seems like he leads off two or three times a game.

Keith Hernandez impressed by Leake's effort because he figures a bad result and he would be on the bus. This is the Leak we've seen the last two years- moving it around, changing speeds, and showing confidence.

bonehead play by Votto -- then he misses one down the line -- tough play on the 2nd -- no argument here but if he picks it we might get two

If your young, injury free and not in a slump why do you need a day off in mid May? Even if he was on base every AB and scored every time and had to make a lot of plays in RF, how much energy do you really use? It's not even close to 1/4 of a basketball game. He's not going to get better watching Santana from the bench.
