I think with this lineup VS this pitcher we either score a ton of runs, or get shut out. I doubt there is much middle of the road.

Go Reds!!!

Stray
05-17-2012, 02:30 PM
I didn't really expect Latos to miss with as many pitches as he does, and his put away pitches are fouled off a lot. His inability to be more efficient will be a problem later in the year if he doesn't improve.

texasdave
05-17-2012, 02:33 PM
He throws his knuckleball at various speeds. From 71-80 on Bruce.

texasdave
05-17-2012, 02:34 PM
Ludwick with a rocket (bloop) single to right.

At one point the Reds were thinking about trading for Phil Niekro. They called Johnny Bench to ask his opinion and Bench told them if they trade for Niekro they better trade for another catcher because he wasn't catching him. LOL.

I don't think it's all that common for any manager to call for a non sacrifice bunt. Stubbs is smart enough to know he should lay down more bunts, especially with 2 outs, nobody on and Votto on deck. If they're hard to catch I'm sure they're also hard to bunt, but it's not like he's making contact either way.

Stubbs and a lot of balls don't mix. Make that 43 strikeouts in 146 at-bats. On the positive side, he has drawn 7 walks.
I was all for a Stubbs-for-Brantley swap with the Indians.

Brantley is hitting more now, but he's walked only one more time than Stubbs.

I can't understand that, because Brantley makes far better contact (only 14 Ks). Apparently he makes too much contact.

Well, he hasn't even tried.

And with his contact issues, refusal to attempt bunts, and propensity for taking called third strikes, exceptional measures (calling for him to bunt) would seem to be in order, IMO.

Not happy about Latos's pitch count problem. We needed at least a cool 7 today if not 8. With Arroyo and Bailey likely getting lit up vs. the Yankees, we needed rest for the pen. I would pitch him 130 pitches.

It wouldn't have been a terrible play by Votto had Murphy been running hard as he caught the ball. However, by the time he caught it, he had basically come to a stop, which made it an easy turn and throw. His momentum at that point was not taking him away from the plate.
