Would he come out of retirement to manage this team if Bob and Walt asked him?

I always hated TLR, but at this point, I could probably stand him better than the current situation.

I'd rather have Francona

Why?

He'd do something everyday that would cause thread creations and mental meltdowns too.

I might have to abandon my beloved Reds if TLR came on board. I've been a life long Reds fan for over 40 years. My loathing of TLR is that strong. Dead serious.

No TLR. please. I'd rather have Francona and any number of other possibilities. Larusa would drive RZ nuts, too, but if he brings Duncan with him...nah.

There's not enough bandwidth for me to list every human being (and some animals, including my dog) that I would prefer as the Reds manager over TLR.

No manager will make people happy. As WOY said TLR, Francona, Torre, Maddon, doesn't matter, hell will be unleashed upon them by this place.

So don't have a manager. Let the coaches handle things.

IIRC, Francona wasn't afraid to split the lefties in his time.

I remember how hated Pete Rose was in New York by the Mets fans in the 70's but if he would have become a Met they would have hero worshiped him. I would almost bet the same would come true if LaRussa Came here and won.LOL almost anyway.

I'm involved with a tech start up that has a social gaming project in the works. Everyone hates Zynga because they're the top dogs in that realm and use that position to bully. I have fundamental disagreements with how they treat the business, their customers, and employees. At the same time, I'd have absolutely no problem with them buying us out and me being able to take my 15% and hang out drinking fancy coffee.

I don't want to win the TLR way. I would be embarressed to be a Reds fan, no matter how much they won.

I don't think TLR would come out of retirement to manage anywhere other than a California based team. That said, I understand why people don't like him here but at the same time, he is light years ahead of even Francona at the managerial position.

Unless our new manager is Morganna, "The Kissing Bandit".

It would appear that Royals 3B George Brett approves.

Let's be serious. If there's even a chance LaRussa would come, you inquire into it. It's Tony Freakin LaRussa. I hate him too, and don't respect him as a person, but as a manager? He's the best. I could care less how much I hate him if he wins a title in Cincinnati. And if he flames out? I have even more reason to hate him. It's a win-win situation if you ask me.

If you're bringing a manager out of retirement, isn't Joe Torre a more likely choice? He has ties to the area and a broader respect across the game.

Nonetheless, I'm confident the Reds won't be willing to pay two guys millions of dollars a year to run the ballclub. Dusty gets paid this season whether he watches Reds games from the Reds dugout or from his couch at home. That's why the manager change happens before next season, not in the middle of this one.

I'm still trying to figure out how in any baseball universe, someone starts a thread wanting to fire a manager that has his team a half game out of first place. And with suggestions to bring in perhaps the most reviled opposing manager we've ever had. Such a crazy world we live in.

I always thought Torre was a good but not great manager. Joe did well when had a lot of talent and he put up with Steinbrenner's crap - which is a big plus - but when he hasn't had the great talent he hasn't done that well.

I would only take LaRussa if Dave Duncan came along with him. I think Duncan had as much to do with his success as anything.

I just wish Cast would let Jocketty hire who he wanted so he'd have his own man. I don't think Baker is that guy.

I don't think MLB blackballed him. Rather it seems he didn't work and play well with his respective front offices.

The only problem he had with our front office was his living situation with another adult (female). I wouldn't qualify that as not playing well

If TLR and Dave Duncan came to this organization I would no longer be a fan till they were gone.
