Our DH possibilities are truly dreadful.

Currently we don't have six major league hitters much less nine.

I like that we're trying Heisey at the top of the order. If he does anything whatsoever in this role then he can pretty much lock down an everyday job.

So who gets the closer job?

I'll try!

5 ortho surgeries on my right arm might limit me somewhat though

CU2morrownite
05-20-2012, 02:31 PM
So who gets the closer job?

Chapman will be the closer according to Baker. If the Reds have a lead today, Chapman will most likely be the guy.

Ironman92
05-20-2012, 02:35 PM
I thought Dusty said Chapman is now the closer but is not available today

Sure sounds like Dusty.

texasdave
05-20-2012, 02:35 PM
Marshall said he hasn't heard anything. That is how you treat a player, Dusty. LOL.

texasdave
05-20-2012, 02:36 PM
Did anyone hear the mound groan when CC Sabathia got up on it?

LeDoux
05-20-2012, 02:37 PM
I always wondered about the "players love him" line. Maybe they do, but I would think they are also a very competitive group of guys and want the best chance to win.

texasdave

Lots of goose eggs today.

CU2morrownite
05-20-2012, 02:39 PM
Dusty has spoken to Chapman and Marshall from what I read. Didn't realize Chapman wasn't available ...for a rubber game against the Yankees..when it might come down to the 9th...after two aces battle it out in a low scoring, close affair....hmmmm...

texasdave

Wild pitch and/or passed ball.

texasdave
05-20-2012, 02:45 PM
Reds need to jump on wild CC.

texasdave
05-20-2012, 02:46 PM
Heisey moves Cozart along by bouncing to the right side.

Stubbs looks overwhelmedand undercapable...Too bad..with all that speed and he just can't put any offense together.

NeilHamburger
05-20-2012, 02:50 PM
Stubbs would still suck if he was allowed to use an aluminum bat, the oppossing team could only have 2 outfielders, he got 4 strikes and 1 of the infielders couldn't use a glove.

texasdave
05-20-2012, 02:51 PM
www.baseball-reference.com has a stat that shows how many times a batter has put his team ahead when either tied or behind. Votto has 11 such hits this year. Stubbs? Once. One freaking time he has put the Reds in the lead in a quarter of a season. Impressive.

I almost typed a quarter of a century. Wouldn't be much difference I suppose.

At this point id say no. The offense cant do anything and tbe Yankees can actually get hits and threaten every inning. Cueto is a good pitcher but not good enough to constantly put up 0's against that lineup

RedsFanInBama

Unbelievable arm angle....few could've made that play and he's probably the only one to make it that way....Phillips would've jumped and turned in air to make it using an extra step. I can't believe how much he threw him out by.

Marty thinks he was trying to hold Stubbs a little closer to second.

Ahh that would make sense. It was weird to see a ball hit directly over the 2nd base bag right into the 2nd baseman's glove.

Sabathia got you a GBSVP. Careful what you wish for. If you ask for one with two outs it automatically carries over. You can't un-ask for one.

Fay also said Dusty was irritated by the question.

He's irritated by every strategic question. No reason the hitter can't let the baserunners do what they can do.

Cueto has made one mistake all game. That pitch Cano hit was not a bad pitch.

Falling behind 3-0 was the mistake. FWIW, I'm not saying this is Cueto's fault. He didn't have a prayer with our inept lineup facing Sabathia today. Doesn't really have to be Sabathia. Any solid pitcher really.
