Arrested? You don't use that word unless it's something serious.

Columbus at 1 AM? Did he miss the flight from NY?

The game ended at about 4:30...

~550 miles/ 93 mph = 5.9 hrs...

The math works.

Considering he was driving on a suspended license, he might as well sale that car..he won't be driving for a while...He also has either a work visa or has applied for a permenent visa because he has defected from Cuba...it's not good to get arrested...for anything.

If he had wrecked and hurt someone on a suspended license, he could of faced jail time and then deportation....serious business.

Hey Chapman...you make 6 million a year....get a driver!

His velocity was way down. Figured it would be 98-99.

Stop being so dramatic. Is this good? Of course not. Is it a major offense that is going to hang with him for the rest of his career? Of course not.

A constitutional amendment that you should be able to drive up to their velocity of your fastball?

This may explain why Dusty was "in a meeting" and not available for the Fox Ohio post-game show. Management trying to get all their stories straight before having to address the media. Doesn't Chapman have a permanent babysitter ala Josh Hamilton?

That caught my eye as well. I wonder what time the flight got back to Cincy and if the math works that way? I am not familiar with the roads around Columbus, but that article did say I-71 North.

Interesting theory, but that would have meant Aroldis missed the flight to New York (otherwise, he wouldn't have his car there in the first place). Plus, he would have been driving 71S if he was going back to Cinci.

I'm thinking he took the plane back, and around 11:30 or midnight he took off for Columbus.

I have a pretty good feeling this is what Dusty's post game meeting was about.

AC was going to the state captial to get an Ohio license. Arresting officer is a Cardinals fan and made sure the Mercedes was scratched when it was impounded.

Might be the only topic on Sun Deck that that doesn't shovel blame on Dusty, which I think is nice.

Hail Mary, full of grace, please let the Red's take ahold of first place!

This is probably a blessing. Just saved him from getting into trouble. Why would you take off for Columbus at midnight?

It could have been a rental, but you are right, the 71 N puts a hole in my missed flight theory.

Here is my new theory:

Seriously fellas, I have no idea about the state of Ohio. I can only speak for Indiana. Driving while suspended is a serious offense here. There are two things that concern me.......what in the hell was he doing in Columbus at that time? And why is his Kentucky license suspended? Laugh and joke it up, but this could be something very big.

Not sure if you're joking since he doesn't understand or speak English so he wouldn't be into that music but if you're not....He was pulled over after it was over and was heading TO Columbus at midnight not FROM Columbus. My guess is he met a girl from Columbus and was looking to go get some after a road trip.

Lawsuit story actually broke four or five days ago. Not sure it holds much water, but you're right... certainly not a banner week for one Aroldis Chapman

Ohio's traffic laws concerning Suspended Licenses:

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4510.11

Because it was a KY license, the Ohio judge can only fine Chapman. The judge can notify Kentucky, and Kentucky will lengthen the suspension. Worst case scenario his car is impounded for a few weeks but it seems to me that he flies to work half the time. There is a chance he can afford another car. There is a chance he can afford a guy probably named "Winston" to drive that car for him.

I highly doubt the govt would deport a guy over traffic violations. Sounds like a good way to lose out on a lot of tax dollars.

I wouldn't think of this as a big deal, but I know next to nothing on how work visas work. Non violent, but these tickets are adding up.

I don't want him to not enjoy America, but he's gotta know he's on thin ice. My guess is if he gets deported (hypothetically)....Reds wouldn't have to pay the heavier, backend of his contract?

I think that the odds of getting deported over this, considering his money, clout, the severity of offense, and the desire of elected officials to be re-elected, is astronomical. I am not even sure where he would be be deported to. The Netherlands?

They evidently had the cruiser video running and it also captured sound. They played a bit of it on the radio on the way in this morning. You can hear Chapman say "why?", when the officer told him his license was suspended, so it seems as if he didn't know it wasn't valid.

They also said he was on his way to the Columbus airpoirt to pick up his girlfriend (which makes one wonder why she couldn't fly into Cincy), and she had to come pick him up at the police station.
