This game moving right along with the Bravos up by a run. The Reds send up the middle of their order, Votto, Phillips, and Bruce. This should be an exciting half inning, hope everyone is ready.

The first hitter in the bottom of the fourth is Joey Votto.

Joey ahead in the count 2-1. Now 3-1. Let's see what Joey does.

Bounces it up the middle, but the Braves shift plays him well and he is out.

Kc61
05-23-2012, 08:34 PM
Catchers always hit 8th, they clog bases.

You got me started, Cracker Jack.

I mean, I can live with some of Dusty's regular things. He likes fast guys up first, usually CFers, ok, I can live with it. He often hits the SS second, often good bat manipulators, ok, not tragic.

I don't mind splitting up the lefties, it has some basis in this lineup, there are only two lefties, I can see splitting them.

But this business with Hanigan hitting eighth is just ridiculous. The guy has nearly a .400 OBP in an OBP starved lineup. Yet he hits in front of the pitcher.

This makes no sense. I would hit Hanigan lead off. Or second. Or fourth. Or sixth.

If there is a reason for Hanigan to hit eighth with this offense, I wish somebody would explain.

Got a bad feeling with Uggla up again with a man on, hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Kc61
05-23-2012, 08:38 PM
I even think I know Dusty's reasoning on Hanigan. A couple years ago he tried Hanigan higher in the lineup and Ryan slumped for awhile. So I figure Dusty decided right then that Hanigan is the eighth guy, that's his best spot, keep him there.

I mean, I don't pick on Dusty much, but on this team hitting Ryan eighth, burying him in the lineup, really makes so little sense.

Sorry for the interruption, let's go Reds. Or whatever.

Joey gets runner to third with liner to the pitcher's box, knocked down, throw out at first.

Really an excellent play by Heisey to take third on that. Could be a big play in the ballgame.

Can't squeeze with the lefty hitter. Too easy to get the runner with an outside pitch.

Now a pitching change, Venters probably hurt after the Votto liner.

Another lefty, this O'Flaherty guy, pretty hard to hit.

If Reds won't pinch hit Leake, my first choice, then pinch hit Wilson Valdez who will definitely get down the squeeze bunt.

It all stems from pulling off the ball or simply trying to pull the outside strike.
