I would love to see Homer dominate. 7 innings 3 hits 0 earned runs 1 walk 9 strike outs. Something along those lines.

Good to see Bruce going for Ripken's record.

Bruce will eventually get out of his slump and go on a crazy hot streak. I don't think days off or anything really plays into it, just that he's a super streaky player. May as well run him out there and hope tonight is the night. Plus he gives you good defense.

No McCann or Chipper tonight for the Braves, their offense is not that scary without them. Homer should be able to give us a good outing.

Stubbs in CF, Heisey in RF, Frazier in LF, Cairo 3rd

Bruce will eventually snap out of it...but anyone can go 0-4 and leave 6 guys on base....even Luddy.

The only thing going right now.....everyone else is stepping up so his 0-4, strikeouts and leaving runners on base isn't hurting us.....but right now, I'd have more trust with Mike Leake batting 5th.

Keep Bourn and Prado off base more than 7 times and everything should be fine.....Freeman IMO is very close on many swings...hope he stays just off.

I wish Mesoraco would get off the Mendoza line and begin to show people why Jocketty chose to move Grandal (.311/.418/.489/.907 in AAA) instead of him.

Chipper, McCann and Freeman all out of the lineup. That should make things a bit easier.

Votto Ks. High throw and Stubbs in safely.

RedsFanInBama

texasdave
05-24-2012, 07:44 PM
True enough it is about context. But if the Reds trail by 2 or 3 late and they have the shift on why wouldn't a slugger bunt to get on? You need baserunners. Even if Bruce was hot. Take the bunt in that situation. But people wouldn't agree.

For some reason inning number six starts things off for this team.

NeilHamburger

Really, why take such a weak first swing. The ump has a tight zone, make this guy earn it.

RedsFanInBama
05-24-2012, 08:03 PM
That right there is an example of how poorly coached our hitters are. You've got a sinkerballer on the mound. You know what he's trying to do to you, and you swing at the first pitch down in the zone he throws.

osuredleg24

When our pitchers decided to continually throw balls the only place he could hit them deep. Inside and elevated. Every single homer has been inside and at the waist or above.

Fun to watch...Phillips and Bruce have stunk but top to bottom this lineup is strong tonight and producing.

I still have to many past memories not to think struggling Bruce and Luddy won't get to start the same game within the next two games.....I hope I'm wrong. Heisey and Stubbs are doing well right now.

There is zero chance of that....I'm not saying you're wrong or that you're saying he will.....just that he's 1/31 with strikeouts amuck and Heisey will start fewer games over the next 4 games.

Agreed, Dave. With pitching and defense like this, we're a playoff team while being next to last in RISP. Now we're starting to hit HRs, so it's all coming together.

It's just flat out way to early. Just last year the Braves blew a 9 1/2 game lead in early September.

We are playing well and winning right now.....yeah July and on look good but over 100 games left.

Well, those are two good teams. We are catching the Braves at a good point with McCann and Chipper out and us playing our best baseball of the season. Even though we're going for a sweep, the games have all been pretty close. With McCann and/or Chipper in there, it easily could have been a different series.

Entering this series, the Braves were in first place in the best division in baseball. We had our way with them this series, but they are still a very good team. We also got them without McCann and Jones. Not having to face Atlanta again this year is definitely a big deal. Same with the Nats. Those are tough opponents and we're finished with both. I bet STL fans wish they could say that.
