Bruce gets a day off, so Dudstick is in the lineup. I would just like to point out that Jay Bruce was OPSing a deadly .973 when Dusty decided to give him a day off against Santana and the Mets. He pinch hit that day and hit a sacrifice fly.

He has gone 1 for 29 since then. So maybe days off aren't always what they are cracked up to be. Because his last day off has not done a thing for Jay Bruce. Maybe, just maybe, when a hitter is hot you just ride it on out.

The Rockies will play us very tough....Keep CarGo and Tulo from killing us and should be fine for next 3 series.

It had gotten in Bruce's head, you could really tell. A day off couldn't really hurt.

I'd like to see another big night from the top of our order tonight. Anyone think Stubbs could go 30-30 this year? I heard Harold Reynolds mention that he thought he would get there.

If he even gives it a run his strikeouts will go back through the roof.....Michael Bourn might if he played us at home enough.

I'll take how he's playing right now....hitting a lot of balls pretty hard but not in the air.

Terrible call at 1st. Wasn't even a hard call to be honest.

Stray

He'll get thru 6

Stray

Ironman92

C'mon Heisey...take advantage

Frazier has been clutch.

The Rage

4 runs(648 runs total) a game probably isn't going to be enough for the Reds to make the playoffs. They probably will need about 4.75 ideally and at least 4.4-5 to have a shot.

no discipline or plate awareness

New York Red
05-25-2012, 09:20 PM
We have two disciplined hitters -- Votto and Hanigan. Everyone else will swing at any pitch, any time and in any location. I say give them all a copy of Ted Williams' book and have them read it 24/7 the way Joey does. They'll get more coaching from that book than they're getting from this coaching staff.

I missed the first few innings, so I called my brother for a report. According to him the Rockies got a lot of weak hits off Cueto. If that's the case, I'm not too concerned about him. Even if he did get hit hard, I still wouldn't be concerned. He wasn't going to finish the season with a 1.10 ERA.

It was a short double, not a gapper. It was cut off, and he probably had to hold up briefly to make sure it wouldn't be caught. He had no chance to score.

Since there was two outs, i hope the latter part of your post is not true.
Sorry guys, I forgot there was two outs. I was just assuming Drew held up, but obviously he didn't. It just wasn't hit far enough to score on.

This bullpen is amazing. Simon doesn't even pitch for ten days, then he comes in and mows them down for two straight innings. Time for a three spot and then Chapman in the 9th.

Relax. It's a long season. We've been on fire lately and the Rockies have owned us for years. Even the two greatest Reds teams of all-time ('75 and '76) combined to lose 114 games. We'll be ok.

Sucks that Cueto wasn't "on," but Friedrich is one of the best young pitching prospects in baseball right now.

Not really. If I'm feeling something about the game, I post it. Sometimes negative, sometimes positive. I think that's the case with most people here. Given that there is much more failure in baseball than success, you may perceive the threads to be more negative.
