Cozart
Stubbs
Votto
Phillips
Bruce
Heisey
Cairo
Mesoraco
Leake

Bruce back, Frazier gets a day off.

Cairo is 4 for 5 against Rockies starter Jeremy Guthrie so it's no mystery why Frazier has the day off.

Small sample size to be sure, but judging from his performance this year, Cairo appears to be getting up there in Rolen-years.

Keeping Casey over Konerko was just a horrible, horrible decision.

No matter how much Cameron meant to that 1999 team.

I suspect a slugfest tonight. Hot air, GAB. Votto paces the Reds with 2 Hr's and Bruce breaks his bat over his head in frustration.

DirtyBaker
05-26-2012, 07:10 PM
The two wildcards tonight are Leake and Bruce. Leake comes off his best start of the year by far and Bruce comes back from watching the game last night on the bench.

With hot how it is, I'm guessing Leake goes 5 2/3, 4ER
Bruce goes 1 for 4 with an RBI.

1908 --- used to own a 1908 World Series scorebook, Cubs team photo postcard, yearbook & schedule.

When my wife & I built our house we each agreed to sell part of our collections to cut the cash outlay -- mine was in an envelope -- sold it at Christie's in New York.

I never warmed to the Cubbies but I liked the cash they brought me!

Obviously the issue is that Stubbs seems to hit a lot better in front of Votto. I can see both sides.

With Stubbs on base, distracting the pitcher with the threat of stealing, the more likely Votto is to get a pitch to hit. He needs to be sent as often as possible so that threat is constantly in the minds of the opposing pitchers.

With Stubbs on 2nd it's a heck of a lot easier for Votto to get him in. If they put two men on base it's a lot easier to have a big inning.

I'm not holding Stubbs back, I know he doesn't get on base a ton, but when he's there he can make a lotta stuff happen for us.

Every situation isn't the same. There are times I'd give Drew the green light, but when Joey has 5 hits in his last 6 ABs, no way do you take the bat out of his hands. We're talking about a guy who is possibly on his way to his second MVP season, and you want to let him get an intentional pass? That's crazy.

I never heard of hitters not wanting guys to steal until about 10 years ago. I'd like to believe Votto would have that tunnel vision on the pitcher and not let Stubbs bother him.

Bruce finally ran into a double.....but with 1st and 3rd and no outs he swings at a 1-1 pitch at his shoulder and then takes a strike 3 fastball straight down the middle???

Who will be in the OF tomorrow? Dusty will have Luddy in LF against Moyer. I bet Heisey with his 3 RBI, 2 runs, 2 hits and 3 times on base gets the sit.

Love the way Phillips is spraying the ball right now. When he's hitting the ball consistently into right field, he is a tough out. He's been doing that pretty consistently throughout this homestand. I like how he's coming along. Now, if we can get Bruce going, our middle will look pretty strong.
