Bats still up 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

Gathright is swinging a hot bat in AAA. He is sitting at .344 right now.

Anyone getting audio on Wahoos?

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:09 PM
Cingrani strikes out the first two batters he faces in AA, then shows he is a mere mortal and induces a groundout to end a 1-2-3 first.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:13 PM
Cody Puckett with an RBI single. Bats now up 2-0 in the bottom of four.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:15 PM
Lamarre with a lead-off single for the Blue Wahoos and DiDi follows that up with a pop out to short. DiDi has really fallen off. He is now down to .271.

Edd Roush

Peacock with a 2-RBI double and Gathright continues his hot start with the Bats with an RBI double. Bats up 5-0 in the bottom of four.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:17 PM
Brodie Greene gets a single for the Blue Wahoos. First and second with one out in Pensacola. Guzman follows that up with a GIDP. 0-0 after one.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:17 PM
Dragons go 1-2-3 in the first and then Bowling Green does the same.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:18 PM
Negron strikes out to end the Bats four-run fourth inning.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:21 PM
Cingrani strikes out the fourth batter he faces. That's three K 1.1 into his AA career.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:27 PM
Cingrani walks a batter, gets the next batter to fly out and then allows a single. Runners on the corners with two out.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:27 PM
Cingrani gets out of his jam by getting the next batter to fly out.

Pensacola tied at 0 in the middle of the second inning.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:28 PM
Three ground outs from the Dragons have the Dragons go 1-2-3 for the second straight inning.

JaxRed

He's a quick worker. Ryan Lamarre hasn't impressed me a ton defensively. I've seen him about 5 times here in Jax. Arm didn't seem terribly accurate.

In this last inning there was a pop up to center, and the runner had been deked out and was dead going back to first but Lamarre's throw was off target. JUst now, Lamarre caught a ball and unleashed a throw to home. Of course, since there was three outs it didn't matter.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:37 PM
Vidal leads off the Blue Wahoos second with a double, then PJ Phillips bunted him over, but Means and Berset could not bring him home.

Still 0-0 after two innings in Pensacola.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:38 PM
Tuttle gets through the bottom of the second unscathed despite a couple walks.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:39 PM
Francis still pitching a shutout through six innings.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:44 PM
Cingrani with a great third inning. 1-2-3 with another K.

JaxRed
06-03-2012, 03:44 PM
He needs to be in AAA!! :D

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:50 PM
Gathright now hitting .382 in AAA. He just hit a two-RBI double and the Bats are laying it on 7-0 in the bottom of six.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:55 PM
Dayton gets a couple of walks, had a runner on third with one out, but still didn't score. 0-0 in the middle of three in Bowling Green.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:56 PM
Francis gets his fourth K of the day to continue his shutout after 7 IP.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:57 PM
Cingrani gives up a single in the fourth, but gets through the fourth without allowing any runs or any real harm. 0-0 in the middle of four in Pensacola.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 03:58 PM
Tuttle with another shutout inning. 0-0 after three in Bowling Green.

Hoping to see Cingrani go to his offspeed stuff a little bit more moving forward in this game. If he has thrown less than 80% fastballs so far I would be surprised.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:06 PM
Hat trick for Willie Harris tonight.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:07 PM
Cingrani had another walk in the fifth, but after inducing a pop up, he picked the runner off first and then got the last batter to ground out. 0-0 in the middle of five in Pensacola.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:09 PM
Francis with a 102 pitches after 8 shutout innings. Great start. BTW Desmond Jennings (a top prospect for the Rays) has a .125 BA.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:11 PM
Steve Selsky doubles in the top of the fourth, but it was with two outs, so of course the Dragons couldn't push a run across. Tuttle then allowed his first hit in the bottom of the fourth, which is a lead-off double but Perez nailed the base runner trying to advance to third and the Dragons shut out Bowling Green in the bottom of four.

Still 0-0 after four.

Lamarre singles with base loaded. 1-0 Wahoos

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:19 PM
That's four singles, including a bunt single by Cingrani, for the Blue Wahoos in the bottom of five.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:19 PM
Francis is one out from the complete game shutout.

JaxRed
06-03-2012, 04:19 PM
They give him a hit? That should have been a error

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:20 PM
Francis does it. Nice complete game shutout.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:21 PM
A grounder to first by DiDi brings home another run. Greene then grounds out and it's 2-0 Blue Wahoos after five.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:22 PM
Waldrop, O'Shea & Silva all double to start the fifth which leads the Dragons to a three-run inning. Dragons up 3-0 in the middle of five.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:23 PM
Tuttle being pulled for Jensen after facing just 15 batters and throwing four innings of shutout baseball. Is he on a strict pitch count?

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:27 PM
Brackman, Billy and the Blaze about to get started. I am very hopeful that Drew can get it together.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:28 PM
Jensen gives up a bomb in the bottom of five, but it was solo and that's it.

3-1 Dragons after five.

JaxRed

Cingrani thru another shutout inning. Gave up a bloop single

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:30 PM

Wahoo's rallying, Suns changing pitchers. Saw stirring in Wahoo's bullpen

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:38 PM
Another hit for Vidal. .217 isn't even decent, but at least he's off the interstate.

JaxRed
06-03-2012, 04:42 PM
Cingrani still out there after rally fizzles.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:43 PM
Brack gives up a double and then an RBI single in the first. Only one run allowed by Brack, but hopefully he can settle down.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:44 PM
Wow the Dragons walk five times, including four to lead off the inning, but only score one run. That's offensive ineptitude at its finest.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:46 PM
Billy pops up to lead off the game for the Blaze and the Blaze do go down 1-2-3 in the first.

Edd Roush
06-03-2012, 04:47 PM
Cingrani with his fifth K in the seventh.

JaxRed
06-03-2012, 04:50 PM
Suns have a rally with an opposite field double and an infield hit, and Cingrani comes out. Drew Hayes on the mound. 2 outs..... C'mon Drew

JaxRed
06-03-2012, 04:53 PM
Hayes gives up single. 2-1. Then he gives up another 2-2. Hayes allows both inherited runners to score.

JaxRed
06-03-2012, 04:59 PM
A seeing eye single makes it 3-2 Suns

Manno pitches a scoreless inning. He had a rough start to the season but he's down to 2.61 ERA now.

Lohman and Niko Vasquez have 2-run homers and Bakersfield leads 4-3 in the fourth.

Brackman has only one walk through four (4 K). That's good.

Hamilton stole his 62nd base of the season, after stealing second base. He's 1 - 3.

Bryson Smith had an error, but threw a runner out as well. Atonement, perhaps.

Theo Bowe erred for the sixth time this season as well. In 20 games. As an OF. Ouch.

I am not sure that he lacks it, he just needs to rely on it more.

Cingrani's lack of secondary stuff is going to get him exposed in AA.

That's what AA is for, though. He'll learn he has to use it to get these better hitters out and he'll become a better pitcher - or - he won't. I think maybe you're right for a bit at first but then I think he'll learn and adjust and like Doug said start relying on his secondary stuff to set guys up and learn to mix it up and make guys guess more.

He won't dominate the way he has, for sure. But I think he'll still do well in AA. That fastball explodes with late tailing action, and he seems to have good command with it. Will be interesting to see if the Reds can help him develop something secondary -- what he has looks pretty feeble, though I only saw 2-3 innings. Looked like some kind of breaking ball with little break, and he didn't throw it for strikes.

Hopefully he'll get beat up enough to be forced to learn that secondary pitch. Also he may soon get orders to throw it 30% of the time.

I was at the Bowling Green/Dayton game yesterday. Sean Buckley got ejected for arguing balls and strikes. He didn't realize he was ejected until after returning to the dugout. He then came back on the field after the umpire and threw his helmet in the middle of the field in the direction of the umpire. He looked like an idiot and he will probably be heavily fined.

In Buckley's defense, the umpire was horrible and was looking for a confrontation from both sides, all day.

Dayton made some great plays in the field included a catch at the wall by the centerfielder. He had to jump up against the wall and make the catch. Amazing play. The Dragons have no plate discipline at all. Bowling Green brought in the side armer to pitch and he couldn't throw a strike to save his life. The could have stood there and walked all day. Instead they ended up hitting into a double play.

Dayton won on this day, but Bowling Green is clearly a better team with better players. Josh Sale, Ryan Brett, and Jeff Malm are studs. Josh Sale is a beast. Cameron Seitzer is also on the Hot Rods and appears that he will be a decent bet to move quickly.

This is the first time I went to see the Hot Rods this year, but it's very easy to see why Tampa has a great organization. Over the last 4 years, Bowling Green has really gotten better players every year. I also met Ryan Brett's mom on Saturday and then saw her again Sunday. She's a very nice lady and she told us how Ryan signed with Gonzaga when he heard Taylor Swift may go there then, after being drafted, decided to go to the minors route instead.

Josh Sale is a guy I really wanted the Reds to take in the 2010 draft. HS OF with huge upside at the plate- the exact same profile I'd like to see us go after tonight (and last year, with Josh Bell)...
