Probably the same as I would have, except I'd pick Pedroia over Uggla.

I like dougdirt's list but I'd go with Kershaw over Lee and Pedroia over Uggla.

I wouldn't have much of an issue with Kershaw at all. I honestly picked the pitchers without looking at anything, just kind of did that one from memory.

My roster would consist of NCAA all-stars whom actually want to be there.

College players would be seriously overmatched using wooden bats against the professional pitchers from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Japan, and Korea.

the pitchers part is somewhat easy,

Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, Zack Grienke, Jeff Samardzija, Matt Garza.
bullpen- joel hanrahan, jason grilli, jason motte... i completely ignore all reds pitcher's and roll with these pitchers...with the message to the manager...NO PITCH COUNTS!

I'd have to give the position players a little more thought.

Evidently, Team Israel manager Brad Ausmus has contacted Ryan Braun and Kevin Youkilis about playing for Israel. Shawn Green and Gabe Kapler have already agreed to be coaches, and may decide to be player/coaches. Scott Schoeneweis has not yet decided whether to be a coach, a player, or both.

Is he not a US citizen now? I thought such things only applied to presidents? But I guess not, thought it was up to the player.

In the future Canada is just northern America and his future ID shows him as an American citizen.

Matt Kemp, anyone?

Or is Oklahoma seceding from the union? ;)

No, the player must:

(1) be a citizen of the country he plays for,

or

(2) have been born in that country,

or

(3) be a permanent legal resident of that country,

or

(4) be eligible for citizenship of that country,

or

(5) have a parent that is (or was, if deceased) a citizen of that country,

or

(6) have a parent who was born in that country.

I guess if Votto's permanent legal residence is in the USA, then he could be eligible, but he seems to be very proud of his Canadian heritage. I can't see him playing for anyone except Team Canada.

Oklahoma isn't a state. Everyone knows that.

C'mon now, Oklahoma is a state so Kemp is eligible. But not Ryan Howard or Mark Buehrle. I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah!

The article I read (I can't find it now) said that Ausmus had contacted and extended an invitation to every Jewish player in MLB. Several of the players you named were mentioned. I mentioned Braun and Youkilis because they were on Team USA in 2009.

For those of you who are unaware, all Jews worldwide are immediately eligible for citizenship in Israel.

Braun better be carefully. The Israeli Army is known for their frequent and strict drug tests.

Is it wrong that I was rooting for Canada last time? I mean, they had Votto, and the US squad was full of Yankees/Sox.

Nope, nothing wrong with that, but we can solve this Votto issue quite sensibly.

Conquer Canada.

I don't want Chapman or any of our pitchers going.

Well, that's not going to happen. Johnny Cueto is a lock for the Dominican team, and Jose Arredondo will likely make it, too. (Both were on Team DR in 2009.) I would guess that Sean Marshall will garner interest from Team USA as a tough lefty reliever, and Aroldis Chapman will likely pitch for whatever country he has established as his permanent residence (possibly Team USA).

Additionally, J.C. Sulbaran pitched for the Netherlands in 2009, and Kyle Lotzkar is likely on Team Canada's radar.
