Sweeping a team is so overrated any way...

I hope Cueto stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

We've been getting a lot of contributions from our bench guys lately, they've stepped up with our injuries. I'll go out on a limb and predict a hit or two for Willie.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:35 PM
Well, for one day at least, we have a decent bench.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:38 PM
I'll say this. If these guys can't hit Chris Young, who throws a straight 84 miles per hour, they can't hit anyone.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:41 PM
We outsmarted ourselves on that shift. Davis doinks one straight through the vacated shortstop position for the Mets' first hit.

Don't like the way Cueto is falling behind right now.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:41 PM
There's another hit by Murphy. 1st & 2nd, 1 out.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:42 PM
I think the Mets have 74 left-handed hitters on their roster.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:42 PM
Cueto behind again. 2-0 to Thole.

Another base hit -- on a 3-1 count -- by another lefty. Lefties just destroy Cueto.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:45 PM
Cueto coaxes a popup to Valdez. None of the runners can advance. 2 outs, bases still loaded and the pitcher up.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:46 PM
Now Cueto is 2-0 to the pitcher with bases loaded.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:47 PM
Walks the pitcher to force in a run. Pitiful

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:48 PM
Cueto's not even close right now.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:50 PM
Runs it full. In danger of walking in another one.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:51 PM
Mets making Cueto work, fouling off pitches. Darn near at 50 pitches already.

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 02:52 PM
Strikeout to end the inning. 1-0 Mets. Cueto at 50 pitches.

Cueto made a mess of that inning. Good damage control though.

Maker_84
06-17-2012, 02:54 PM
Performances like this will keep cueto out of the all star game. Cleveland had alot of lefties and he held them down. I think hes tired from throwing alot of pitches in that game

RedsFanInBama
06-17-2012, 03:01 PM
Unbelievable. Brandon with his second weak popper of the game and Young gets out of it. You don't count on Valdez being the one to put a good swing on the ball between he, Votto and Phillips.

Stray
06-17-2012, 03:02 PM
Doesn't happen often, but Votto has to get that guy home.

RedsFanInBama

He seems to like being down in the count 0-2 or 1-2, don't know why he has not swung at the 1st 2 pitches in each AB, both looked pretty darn good.
I know it's being nit picking, but he is about the only hope with this line up.

Fielding percentage can be deceiving. Ozzie Smith's career fielding percentage was .978, while Derek Jeter's is .976. Jeter is ok, but to me he's not in the same league as Ozzie Smith. Fielding percentage, though, would suggest otherwise.

Mutaman
06-17-2012, 03:24 PM

I'm a big believer in recovery time. When you have a big pitch effort, you should skip an extra day or two before your next start. Look at the big picture. Its similar to horse racing, when a race horse runs big, a smart trainer will give him extra time off to avoid the bounce.

I suspect JC is not as sharp today because he didn't have enough time to recover from his 120 pitch effort .

I saw the replay of the attempted play in the 1 hitter, but they just showed him miss the bare hand attempt. Looked like he did not have to bare hand it at all, unless the batter was a very fast lefty? From the half replay I saw it looked like an error...

That's how to backhand the ball, he has swiped at it a couple of times in the last week for some reason.
Ryne Sandberg was OVERRATED, IMHO. He rarely was charged with an error at Wrigley, it was a joke.
