Meanwhile, that combined DSL team between the Reds and Diamondbacks--which is about three-quarters Reds--appears to be a dandy: 2-15.

Interestingly, the Reds' main team is tied for first place (11-6) in another division . . . with the Diamondbacks.

The SS for that team, Jonathan Suero, sports a nifty .557 OBP, based on a .447 BA.

I just want to get in first so Doug doesn't have to.

Billy Hamilton is a terrible baseball player.

Just saw Yorman crush a dinger well out to CF on the 1st pitch he saw. He looks a little bulkier now, though I have little to go on. KId has some legit bat speed and tremendous power potential. Impressed.

Apparently the time in extended spring training helped out as Yorman hits a 2 run bomb in his first at bat for Dayton.

Reds Mid-Season Top 10 prospects

2. Billy Hamilton – SS – A+ Bakersfield

You guys are probably right though, I think he is terrible. So terrible that I have him ranked 2nd in the Reds system and inside the Top 100 in all of baseball.

He was only scheduled to get 2 at bats, in case anyone wondered why he left.

Is milb.com working for other people? I've tried to look at scores there the last few nights and it never works.

Works for me. Do you have an adblocker installed? If so, you will have to disable it on Milb.com in order to get their box scores/videos to load/work. If that isn't the issue, then I don't know.

Yorman Rodriguez seems to have a different set up than he had last season. He is a bit more crouched from what I remember. I will look back later this weekend to confirm I am not crazy though.

Leave the house for a few minutes and the Dayton games gets crazy. Dragons now trailing 9-8 in the top of the 9th.

Yorman 2-4, 2B, HR, 4 RBI (The other two AB's were K's though).

NOTHING could be bigger for the Reds farm system than if he could turn things around and have a strong second half. Maybe a second go around against the Midwest could be part of the answer.

Not an expert, but most of his problems have been mental and attitude.

Reports on that side of things since last fall have been outstanding.

He did strikeout twice tonight, both times on breaking balls, which has been his issue in the past.

Billy Hamilton walked in the 5th inning. He was then forced out at second base on the next play. He was double switched out to start the bottom of the 5th inning. They use the DH. Concerned.

It's possible they were just giving Hamilton a breather. He didn't get much time off, having played in the A+ All-Star game, and the game at that point was 7-1.

I agree with Doug that Yorman's stance looks more crouched. Looks good to me. He looks extremely quick on the fastball. Breaking stuff could be a problem. But again, I was very impressed with what I saw from him last night, watching on milb tv. And beyond the obvious hitting/physical tools, he looked to be engaged and enthusiastic. I don't know if it's been a pattern that he plays energetically only for short spells, but I was very encouraged by what he brought to the field.

I also like what I see from Arias. I know his numbers are down, but he's got a lashing bat. Like with Yorman, maybe all that's required with him is patience. I think he'll hit if given time to develop.

Also of note, Billy Hamilton left the game in the 5th inning with an apparent right leg injury. Check the Bakersfield Blaze twitter feed or tomorrow's broadcast for more info on Hamilton and the team.

Hopefully it's nothing serious. If any player needs healthy legs to be successful, it's him.

Looking at this top ten shows how down our sytem is right now. Four if the top eight players had not played a minor league game as of a week ago!
