Louisville scores two in the top of the 8th to tie the game at 3. Bats have a rally going in the ninth. Felix Perez doubles, his fourth hit of the game. Janish whiffed and they walked Mike Costanzo intentionally. First and second with one out. Perez has four hits and his average is now up to .278. He is batting .381 in his last 42 ABs. Bill Rhinehart has a couple of hits. Corky Miller has a double and has drawn two walks.

Edit: Cody Puckett just singled to load the bases. His second hit of the evening. Dorn then walked to bring home the go-ahead run. Bats still hitting. Rhinehart hits a sac fly. Bats lead 5-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth.

I guess everybody was caught up in Arroyo's bid and Chapman's gymnastics. Thanks, tdave, for getting this belatedly started.

Pensacola trails 4-1 after six.

Yes, I was watching that no-hit bid as well.

Jesse Winker is apparently starting to get it. He's 2-2 tonight with a 2B, up to .333. Brennan May (3B) and Sammy Diaz are also 2-2.

Billings leads 6-2 in the fourth behind Sal Romano, who has given up one earned run and struck out three.

AZL Giants score 2 in the top of the first. The Reds starter, Wes Covington, gave up a two-run double, but neither was earned because the runners reached on errors.

I think that Donald Lutz might be a bit much for the Arizona League. His two-run triple in the first puts him at .545 in his rehab stint.

But alas, the Little Reds trail 8-3 in the second. The eight runs have come against Vaughn Covington. Only one of them is earned. The Reds have made five errors already, two by Covington himself and two by everybody's new favorite third baseman, Tanner Rahier.

Heading into the bottom of the ninth Pensacola trails 5-2. Woohoo offense has been almost non-existent. Four singles. Lamarre, Peacock, Vidal and Serrano. Pensacola pitchers have given up 12 hits and 7 walks but only 4 runs. Semi-impressive.

Update: One-out single by Brian Peacock brings the tying run to the plate. Peacock's second hit on the night.

Dayton (Erik Miller) just gave up three in the top of the 12th.

Edit: And that's now a final, 5-2.

Was at the game. Juan Perez hit the ball hard and walked a few times. His HR was ripped. Nick O'Shea playing 1b hit one into the Dragon's Den. First HR of the year. Stalin Gerson pitched 2-hit ball and only one was a real hit. The other was a blown call at first on a IF single.

Carlos Contreras in the 8th inning had them fooled. He pitched at 92, changeup at 81. He touched 97 mph. But in the ninth he couldn't fool anyone giving up the 2 tying runs. Although Miller should was charged for those runs... Cole Green walked in a couple of them.

Josh Smith gives up one run in the second and two in the third. Bakersfield now tied at 3. Travis Mattair is en fuego adding a double to his three-run jack. In his previous ten games he was OPSing .974. That's going up.

Brennan May with another double. Now 4-4. Billings brought the heavy lumber tonight. They lead 9-5 after 7.5 innings. Four hits for May. Three for Winker. Two each for Diaz, Dickinson and Rosa. Winker on base all five times as he walked twice. Billings' 9-1-2-3-4 hitters have the following averages: .368-.350-357-.345-.344. That's a hitting gauntlet.

Well, Phipps made an out, but Lutz is now 3-3, needing a HR for the cycle. Reds trail 9-8 after four.

Billings runs its record to 7-2 with a 9-6 victory.

Add Carlos Sanchez to the list of those with multi-hit games. Mustangs 9 through 4 hitters went 13-21 with three walks.

Andrew Brackman comes on in the bottom of the 8th and gives up an unearned run on a walk, wild pitch, infield single and throwing error.
Hamilton gets caught stealing in the top of the 9th.

Blaze extinguished by a score of 4-3.

AZL Reds tumble 11-9. Rough night in the field for them. 6 errors. Donald Lutz just misses going for the cycle. Single, double, triple and triple. Phipps and Washington with roundtrippers.
Ty Washington off to a torrid start. .381/.458/.762/1.220
Avain Rachal .381/.435/.524/.959
Of the 11 runs given up only 1 was earned. Ouch!

We almost had our first brawl at home:

Leury Bonilla took offense to Peacock blocking the plate with his cleats up and also applying a hard tag. Jackson had about 10 players comeout and both teams coaches put a end to it very quickly.

I think it's time for Lutz to head to Pensacola.
