Votto still out....:(

Cozart - 6
Stubbs - 8
Phillips - 4
Bruce - 9
Frazier - 5
Heisey - 7
Cairo - 3
Mesoraco - 2
Bailey - 1

Frazier batting 5th.

Even in the expanse of Dodger Stadium and with no Joey Votto to get on base, I'm still betting that he knocks in at least one run tonight and four in the series.

Bailey is going the wrong direction lately. Time to bounce back and pitch 6 innings without giving up more than 2 runs tonight.

Lol....I said yesterday after Ludwick's 3rd hit that he's earned himself some bench.

It's truly unbelievable. Let me guess...Luddy is 1/15 off of Billingsley.

Stubbs is the hot hand 0 for his last 14 and all.

Ludwick is 2-14 with 4 K's off Billingsley.

At this point, given that the Reds continue keep 1st place, complaining about the lineup is laughable.

This will probably be Bailey's last start unless he starts getting his stuff back. The last 2 games and really the last 5, he has looked exhausted aka the gimp.

I see a switch with Chapman.

zero chance of that happening, Homer could get shelled and he will be back out there on Sat vs. the Padres. Chapman will NOT be a starter for the Reds this season.

We will see. One of the reasons the Reds started Chapman out in the pen was to control his innings. Now he has a free path toward starting the rest of the season if he succeeds. The Reds also need to rest and try Bailey in the pen. I suspect shorter, daily stints would be easy for him to regain his stuff. Alot of pitchers have had to make the conversion over the years because they weren't strong enough to start. Starting takes stamina and strength. Homer has struggled with this his entire major league career.

The last time he actually pitched with his full stuff was against the Phillies.......in the 2010 NLDS. Sad. Better rebuild him now then let him decline toward nothing and have no value before another team does.

Simply not true. Chapman was in the bullpen in April out of necessity with the injuries to Madson, Masset and Bray. With two of those three still down and the current five starters all pitching at an acceptable level, Chapman will remain in the pen all season barring injury.

Just curious what your recommended course of action with Homer would be, then? Would you advise rebuilding him in the bullpen? You know he is out of options and we can't assign him to AAA on a whim any more, right? If we designated him for assignment, you can bet your house the Reds wouldn't get another sniff at him clearing waivers.

Homer takes longer than probably anyone on the staff, so he's a poor fit for the bullpen stuff not withstanding.

So short of a trade, I'm not sure where you'd see him factoring in... at least in a capacity where you see the Reds being able to rebuild him... at least this year.

I would just move him to the pen and let him replace Chapman's spot. Nothing more or less. Chapman can't warm up quick either fwiw.

I'm a night owl, so the late game is fine with me. Only problem is I didn't purchase the MLB.tv package this year so I have to do one of two things:

I will forever complain when a player is 0 for his last 14 is playing over a guy that had 3 hits the day before....unless it's an established must have (Votto/Phillips)

There are no scenarios, outside of injury, that Stubbs sits. He's fast.

Not my favorite brand of baseball, get a leadoff hit and he's still standing on first base when the inning ends. But, when you have a batter that can't make contact, that basically eliminates the hit-and-run. And Cozart isn't that speedy.

I make 20-40 posts a day over here....I will complain when Stubbs is stinking and never sitting. I'm not Debbie Downer and I'm not the glass is always full. This is an internet website for the Reds...I love the Reds. I'm a lifelong fan no matter what I'll be tuned into every game. I'm not breaking any rules and I almost always have stats to go with it.

Making the playoffs looks pretty do-able and things are good enough to make it. This team is pretty good enough IMO to win it all.

You root your way and I'll root mine. I'll look to limit my opinion on a couple things I have beaten as most get my thoughts ....but they drive me crazy.

Don't act though as if true fans can't be upset with areas of a team even though they are happy with the overall team. I'll continue to call it as I see it...but promise not to beat it to the ones that are regular readers on here.

depends what guy shows up in my shoes!

68 the best this year -- 90+ the worst!

normally 76 - 82 on par 72

index runs from 8 to 10 most of the time

That's awesome. I've never broken par. Not really come close. My best was a 79 on a par-71. When I first started playing a good bit I was consistently shooting between 98-105. It didn't take me too long to where I could break 90 with regularity, but improvement has been slow since then.

He may have tried to go in, but that's it. Nothing with intent.

Going in is one thing. But going up and in is something else.

Looks bad on Billingsley to hit a guy in the head on the first pitch after he has two hits. I know you want to keep him from diving out, especially with the hits going to right, but you can't elevate the ball in that scenario.

Im not positive, but i think Billingsley may have apologized to Mes when he stepped in the box there...

Pitch got away from him from his reaction. He didn't mean to go there, and he's had a couple of fastballs get away from him already tonight.

Looks like Leake is our PH off the bench tonight

That's an upgrade, for this crippled team.

not that it matters but i hate it when we lose a game to a bunch of nobodies--this is a triple a dodger team and we arent going to score a run
